hey folks, my deli just started making a dreadful noise. it starts making the noise at about 20km an hour and gets louder if i go faster. it seems to be coming from the left front tire. when i turn to the right the sound stops but resumes when i straighten out. i've parked it till i can figure out the problem, if anybody has an idea what it could be i'd love to hear it.
cheers
tim

Re: thud thud thud, coming front left front wheel
Two possibilities spring to mind:
1) disc brake wear indicator. Little metal thingy that scrapes on disc when pads are worn. Makes squealing noise.
2) wheel bearing. When you turn, bearing moves slightly to make a bit of a grinding noise. I've had this on a Subaru, only happened on right turn. It was left rear bearing. Then months later it did it turning left. Then it was the right rear bearing.
Let's see what other people suggest.

I vote for the wheel bearing. Never had it on the Delica, but my wife had this problem on her car a few months ago, and the symptoms sound familiar.
I guess a visit to the mechanic will solve the mystery.
Good luck...

Re: thud thud thud, coming front left front wheel
my guess is (a) wheel out of balance or (b) egg in tyre, check to see if any balance weights have fallen off
