L300 5 speed Transmission Rebuilt Kit

Post by thedjjack »

Here is the rebuild kit for the KM145 but I think the KM147 is the same (just forward shitting). I emailed the guy and he said he would do a full refund if the parts do not fit.

Thinking about cleaning my transmission up when I do the clutch one day>

It would be nice to have a new second gear syncro (brass looking things in the kit) that speed up and slow down the gear between shifts.

If you have to take your transmission apart, beside replacing the clutch what else would you do to make it fit for the next 100k km?

It's too bad they don't have the parts to step up the gear ratio in fifth to get some decent highway speeds.
It's the only drawback to the standard transmission.
If there was enough driveshaft room I'd install an electric overdrive to the rear axle. But there ain't.
I guess we all have our own crosses to bear.

Transmission out I would rebuild it. and maybe change the seals in the transfer case as well.

I would also change out the master and slave cylinder and pack the originals as spares.

I think the gears probably do exist to get a overdrive closer to 0.7 (I think we are around 0.8).

This transmission or versions is in lots of vehicles from Mazda, Ford, Mitsubishi....we just need to do some figuring out and give it a try. I will start looking into it as a 0.7 would be ideal for matching the automatic with highway rpms.

I think, those parts don`t match for L300...? :?
L300 has a V5MT-1-4-BFG transmission box.
KM144/KM145 is a older pajeros petrol and diesel boxes, those are smaller.
This is my thought, but not sure.
Here is pic for km 145:

my 1989 has a KM147 which looks to be a external cable shifted KM145.

I will take a picture when it is light out.
