I'm embarking on camperizing my van so I'm taking all the seats out. Normally I'd install an amp under one of those seats. So, I looked under the passenger and driver seats, but there's not enough clearance for an amp underneath them. I could always mount it behind the driver's seat on the carpet, but then it's there in plain view for all to think about thieving if they so wished. Where can I conceal my amp? Is there a safe way to at least make a cover for it that is'nt going to contribute to over-heating or be a fire-hazard? I'm lost. Any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat... Currently I have the captain's chair behind the driver turned around facing backwards and the amp on the floor behind the chair, so it's somewhat hidden from plain view, but by no means ideal.

depending on the amp there may be room to conceal it behind one of the panels in the back, possibly where the old audio-stage unit was, or there's even more room further back (look under the storage trays), if attached to the metal in there it should cool reasonably well, and you could cut ventillation holes in the trim if need be...

Re: Where to put my Amp?
if your amp isent massive, what about below your shifters facing forwards ( if you dont have the cold box)and simply get some fabric/vinyl or something that matches the carpet and screw that to the shifter console to act like a blind for it. if you match closely with the carpet then it will be very well hiden, Or on the side near the heater controlls for the rear but tint your windows, or do the vinyl or something to match along it also for hiding . Ive done both in the past and looked great. hope that helps.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the feed-back. In the end I decided to just mount it on the carpet behind the driver's seat. I hired a guy to do it and he did a great job. Very professional and it was just straight out of his garage. The amp is still in plain view, but once I get the tinted windows I'm after everything will be peachy. I don't think I'm going to cover it with anything because of fire-hazard concerns, but I had thought of a metal box/cage with lots of holes to guard from any impact damage. We'll see what I come up with. The mounting by the shifter idea was my favorite... nice feedback Noel. Peace guys.
