I need the low pressure cutout switch for the A/C system... anyone have one? or have some info on how I could get one?

You might be able to pull one off a similar vintage Dodge Colt, I'm not sure if it would be the same, but someone mentioned that the compressor is the same, so chances are the other components would be compatible too.

that was me,1988 colt is what ive been told Abdule from Silk road auto told me this he has installed one and it fits ,i think he mentiond the colt had one xtra bolt hole.not that this was the topic but just to confirm that it you did see it on the site.

If you cant find a Deli one, there is an AC supply place somewhere around new west/burnaby but I cant for the life of me remember what they are called but it is on the tip of my tongue. An auto parts place would know. Anyways, they have a big catalogue with a bunch of components and their specs like size etc. ANy low psi switch will work really, you just need to find one that fits. Search them out, I am sure you will find something to work.

BTW What does the low psi switch do exactly? I ask out of general interest, but also b/c my AC unit cycles quite often --especially with both front and back running -- and I don't know if this is normal or if something is amiss.

Well the mechanic said it was specific to the vehicle and that they couldn't find one...
and I doubt any a/c shop can look up a delica...

Can anyone confirm if this part will be the same as on the colt? because that would seem to be a simple solution...

Torchard-The low pressure switch protects your A/C system in the event that it runs low on refrigerant. If your system is cycling often it very well could be that you refrigerant is low. What happens is that when your compressor runs it and pressures up the high side, and your refrigerant is low, it can draw down the low pressure side and trip the low pressure switch until enough refrigerant collects again on the low side to close the switch again. Your A/C would still be working, but not as efficiently and probably harder on your compressor clutch as it kicks in and out more often than it should.

Green1-I can verify what pressure switch would or wouldn't work, but I agree with EricN that any A/C low pressure switch would most likely work that would thread in and seal. You could do a little research and see at what pressure A/C low pressure switches cut out at. Maybe they are all the same? Not sure. Mardy has a parts Delica so maybe he can get you one. If you do a recharge yourself you should be able to find the sticker indicating how much refrigerant your system holds and also remember that if you have lost your refrigerant you have most likely lost most of your oil as well which you can also get in a can and put in the system yourself.

Disclaimer-I'm totally a home mechanic, but have done quite a bit of work with pretty good success.

I can verify what pressure switch would or wouldn't work

can, or can't? because if you can, I would appreciate you doing so...

I just had the system retrofitted to r134 and recharged (oil and refrigerant are both good to go now), unfortunately without the low pressure switch operational I still don't have a working system...

Just out of curiosity, they did the recharge and then told you that you needed a new switch? I assume the system was empty so they couldn't do any testing. Now you are going to be on the hook again to evacuate the system, install a new switch, then have another recharge.
And no you won't be able to say to an AC supply shop "give me a delica psi switch" but you will be able to flip through a massive catalog of different switches and look for a match by specs instead of application. Mute point about the local one since I didn't notice where you were located until today.

The system was essentially empty before they started, so we knew for sure it needed a recharge, and being that the system DID work when i bought the vehicle (although barely) we assumed that a recharge was all it needed, unfortunately once they had it all charged up it still didn't work due to the low pressure cutout, to test the system they bypassed that sensor and it worked beautifully, but I still need the switch.
As for looking it up by spec... do you have the specs?

Thanks for this. I wondered if something was up with my system - it works ok, but I suspect not as well as it could-- and the cycling didn't seem right. I'll have this looked into before things heat up again.

Green1 -- Dumb question. You posted elsewhere about a blown fuse behind the glove compartment. Any chance that blown fuse ran the low pressure switch?

well... the fuse has been replaced and the AC still doesn't work... so I'm guessing not....
