MANUAL HUB ASSEMBLY FOR L300, L400 and PAJERO

Post by Rising Sun Auto Import »

We are selling manual( free wheel ) hub assembly at $299 each.
They are from Hyundai Korea, but originally made in Japan.

They provide increased durability and fuel economy( save around 1L for 100km ), and are easy to install.

Are they Aisin copies or genuine Aisin hubs ? (I see the Aisin stamp on the front)

$299 each / per side or a pair ?
skdelica wrote:They provide increased durability and fuel economy( save around 1L for 100km )
Increase in durability. Most definitely. :M

Increase in fuel economy ? Not quite.

I would absolutely love some data to back up your claim.

I've been running manual hubs on our Montero (10 years), Pajero (3 years) and L300/L400's (3 years).

No increase in fuel economy. It's quite debatable and I would not push it as a selling point as it's not quite true.

Thats good news. I didn't realize Aisin was back in business manufacturing hubs.

The Aisin's are the strongest hubs on the market. They are built tough and are rebuildable.

Hyundai imported Aisin hub from japan, and have sold them in Korean Market.
We sold/installed one pair in Pajero 5 speed yesterday.
Customer is very happy. :M

$600 for a set (both sides)??! Wow.
How did you came up with "save around 1L for 100km"? Sounds pretty unrealistic.

I'm with Jfarsang on the fuel economy issue - I log my fuel consumption and didn't get any improvement when I switched from pera-locked flanges to manual hubs.
I still think they're worth having though - heaps better than the autos and the perma-locked flanges. More versatility as they allow the use of 4 low in 2wd on hard surfaces and no backing up to release the hubs, just reach down and click. Another advantage of the L-300 is that you don't even have to get out of the bus to do it!

I gently withdraw my ad for fuel efficiency.
Some customers who have them installed from us have said and felt like that, :M :-)

They should save a bit of fuel, but perhaps not a significant amount. With the hubs in freewheel the front diffs will no longer be spinning, which should definitely reduce some friction, as well as reduce wear on the front end.

Still 3 set available now.
Good quality with good price.
$450 for pair including bolts and washers.
Installation available at my shop.

"quotation"
When the car body is lifted up, the drive shaft boots will be angled. This angled position puts the boots at high risk of damage. If you install a manual hub, you can prevent this problem by not rotating the drive shaft. Please do not use "4WD" when the hub is set as "free." When switching to 4x4, please make sure to switch the manual hub to "4x4."

Does the hub not control the engagement from wheel to driveshaft at the wheel/hub? How would a manual hub stop the driveshaft from rotating? convince me and I'll buy a set?

cheers
