It's the same story with Icebreaker. They were made in New Zealand and now are manufactured in China. The quality is still good and they claim to pay their chinese employees well.
The downside to this is that the clothing now costs more in New Zealand than it does here but the upside is that it is more readily available around the world.
No matter where we buy from we're supporting someone and leaving many others to fend for themselves. The question is what country / people do you want to support, or do you care!?

There is still a big difference between buying poorly made products or knockoffs from China compare to NA/European companies producing their stuff under their quality standards in other countries.
In the end it's our own fault to get shitty products ala Canadian Tire & Co as most of us just grave for the lowest price! If I can buy a winch for $80 who gives a shit how long it last or if it's even save to operate, right?

Re: If you like Princess Auto...
Who would think that Princess Auto could bring up such a discussion?! Yokohama made a really good point but the truth is that this is just a bit of what is going on. I am learning the subject for a few month already. Unfortunately most of the sources are in Russian but recently I came across this http://vimeo.com/21358786 and on the other topic http://www.larouchepac.com/node/17749
If you are concerned about your future and the future of your children you should dig deeper to educate yourself.
Sorry for off topic.
