I use Baldwin BD28's as they have a good track record in the NA diesel community.
Any diesel shop will rebuild your injectors. If you want to watch Edwin do it with his eyes closed, take them to CVI

Re: injector cleaning
I'm hear in Calgary and was quoted anywhere from 300 +- to 400 or more for a injector cleaning [pressure test type cleaning - maybe replacing the seals at extra cost]. Not sure what else they do but....The million dollar question is would replacing them be a better idea?
I've seen injectors on ebay (some german company make) for the 4d46 as low as 100 pds = $160 or so... Would this not be the better option? How much would shipping be...$50??
That said is there a good price here without having to go overseas?

Re: injector cleaning
wow. 300-400 for labour ? At an average 70/hr that's 5-6 hours ! Hahaha sorry I find it funny. The injectors are common. Find another diesel place.
Even if you buy new ones, the old ones still need to be removed and the new one's pressure tested and then installed so you'll be looking at roughly the same labour cost.

Re: injector cleaning
Well that's my pt exactly... And I've called a couple shops...who either don't do them or they're ridiculous.
I'm not entirely sure the whole process being new to diesels BUT the injectors sit right on top making them almost as easy as pulling spark plugs. Meaning a knowledgeable mechanic should have them all out and all back in within 30 mins + the time to service them. I don't know how labor intensive pressure testing them would be... ??
What's the going price in Van for this sort of thing?

Ps...that's Calgary...there's no logic when it comes to the price of things here.

Re: injector cleaning
Injectors are definately trickier to remove then spark plugs. Fuel lines and bla bla bla its awkward in there too, 30 minutes would be extremely ambitious.

Re: injector cleaning
Call CVI in Richmond. Purchase a brand new set, have them set the pressure and ship them to you. All you will need to do then is have them installed. Problem solved.Orionsbelt wrote:What's the going price in Van for this sort of thing?
