Gentlemen, the time has come.

I would ask each and everyone of you to take a stand for what is right. no matter what you drive, no matter where you live, no matter who you are the battle lines are drawn.

http://www.canada.com/edmontonjournal/n ... 7f&k=25327

we wanted to work with TC and ICBC to make sure our vehicles complied with the law, to operate the RHD and ANY imported unit with common sense. we were willing to sit down on Tuesday with Brian to work out a plan of action that would satisfy both sides of the fight. THAT was shot down with the front page news article. we will still meet with them on Tues to hear their side BUT it will be with a pound of salt his words will be weighed.

Brothers, we will be holding meetings in Vancouver, Edmonton and Ottawa and we invite ALL of you to attend. we have a battle plan and we are going to fight this.

we will be staging protests, car shows at TC offices through out Canada, at ICBC head office, we will be attending CCMTA to have our voice heard and we will be launching a class action suit against these organizations AND WE WILL BE GOING AFTER THE ORIGINATOR that we suspect is behind this whole scandal. we have already started the fact finding that leads to this individual. with in a couple weeks we should have all the facts in order to name names.

IT IS UP TO YOU to take your stand...
it is really simple actually...either you are with us or you are against us. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.

I want you to think of something. do you like your RHD you are driving? if so how are you going to feel if it got into an accident and ICBC decided NOT to repair it and the door is closed to replacement from Japan...how are you going to feel? you like your cool ass Delica? go look out your window and picture it gone..go ahead...now picture it replaced with a NA made POS with high mileage and rust...are you happy with that vision? NO? THAT IS A FACT OF LIFE if these liars are not taken to task. we can not do it alone, we can not accomplish the fight with out YOU. WE NEED YOU TO TAKE A STAND!.

cheers Brothers, the fight is not over, it has just begun.

<if our fact finding proves true ICBC and TC will be shaken to their very roots.>

While there are very real political issues with Transport Canada, ICBC, and their ilk, the last thing we want to do is perpetrate political garbage of our own.

Before people start bleating about Political Correctness (whatever that means), there are two very important points here:

1. We need all the help we can get. Declaring all female Delica/JDM owners un-persons is a good way to lose support for the cause (and not just from said drivers, either), and we need all the support we can get.

2. We need to show that we have broad support. An all-male group of twenty-something yahoos will have very little credibility with the Feds when the time comes.

Although I get a bit of an old school union speech vibe from the post, I don't think it was meant to exclude women or anyone for that matter. You're right, we do all need to stick together, and I hope to see you out there too.

I have contemplated editing it to be politically correct but i think i'll let crushers do that himself if he thinks its a good idea, not really my place to be editing things that may very well have been intentional. It seems obvious that you think it was intentional, so I guess it could be seen that way, and I won't touch it.

Either way, enjoy the van while you can. Hopefully for many years to come.

I've got another question for wayne actually...

it is a fairly obvious fact that most RHD owners are car enthusiasts, or they wouldn't go to teh lengths they do to get and maintain these cars correct? It is my experience that car enthusiasts are much more likely to modify their cars in certain ways (i for instance, have big tires, side exit straight exhaust, a cb radio with PA) all of these modifications are mildly grey area things as far as legality goes. I haven't been through air care yet without a muffler (not to mention the noise) my tires aren't 100% covered by t he wheel arches (although I do believe they are legal) and it is illegal to use a PA from your vehicle on the road as far as I know (not that I do, but it is installed). Many young RHD car owners may have aftermarket exhaust that is not exactly quiet, and other modifications that may or may not be questionable. My question for you is, would you prefer if I, with my 2.5 inch straight pipe stayed home?

of course i never meant to exclude ladies...i appologise if i came across that way...
the OWNERS of RHD are what we are all about...we do not differentiate between race, sex or persuasion...

we are all in this together...

as for who can come and who can't, that is for you to decide...you have a turbo on your delica so the sound is not that loud if not put under undue throttle...i would suggest that those with modified units to use common sense when driving.

thanks for the replies brothers AND sisters, gentlemen and ladies...

cheers

We can't let these politicians and bureaucrats push us around because they are getting lobbied by big business to change the laws. What we should be doing is letting them know that if these changes are made, not only will we not vote for them or their parties, but that a class action lawsuit will be taken against the government agencies involved in this witch hunt.

Here is a copy of my letter to the Transport Minister:

Honourable Lawrence Cannon,

I am writing as I am gravely concerned over the proposed change to the 15 year cap for importing vehicles into Canada.

I own two RHD vehicles from Japan, because there was nothing available in the North American market which met my requirements. Both my Nissan Figaro and Mitsubishi Delica are far beyond anything I can buy in Canada in quality, safety and style. Pontiac's Montana minivans are still allowed on the road, but few educated parents are willing to drive them, as they are notorious for tearing apart in a side impact.

Banning these vehicles is no different than the prohibition against alcohol. While there are risks with both, responsible use outweighs them. The politicians and bureaucrats who supported that measure had short careers once public opinion managed to get the Prohibition ended.

Sincerely,

Mark Milotay, Ph.D.

Clark avoids driving on two-lane highways, where it is difficult, if not impossible, to pass other cars safely. He also takes his time in left-turn lanes when he can't properly see oncoming traffic.

Clark is special. :-D

is this paragraph especially amusing or is it just me.

I drove on a 2 lane highway last night, and I discovered that I move from the right lane to the left lane as much as from the left lane to the right lane.
therefore........

If RHD vehicles can't see, when they pull out to pass,
how in the name of tarnation, can LHD vehicles pull back in to the right lane safely after passing.?

watch out for sketchy LHD vehicles!

Too pity, brotherhood!

None of Delica owners participated last night meeting.

You think TC and ICBC will make exception for your cool rides, do not you?

Please share your minds about RHD future in BC.

Thanks,
