Van stuck on Quadra island

Post by Jester »

Hi guys and girls (Happy Mother's day!! )

I have a van stuck on Quadra.
Can someone give me some ideas for getting it out?
It needs to be towed, and I'm trying to get it out without blowing a pile of cash..
So far the cheapest solution seems to be renting a trailer from uhaul, but that means a day lost to this adventure..

Does anyone know someone with a flatdeck or a trailer who perhaps comes over to the mainland empty?
It would be a good route filler to bring the van over..

Or any other ideas for bringing it over would be greatly appreciated.

-the van is NOT fixable onsite.

Cheers
Martin

Try calling a trailer transport co. to see if they have slots to fill, or maybe a private tow truck owner, or similarly a privately owned transport truck of some kind (craigslist kijiji)

Thanks, Yes that was my first thought.
I emailed and called all the towing companies in Campbell River, there is also one tow truck guy on Quadra, but he said he doesn't get out much..
The other one I think is called Coastal, from CR. The guys said it mostly depends on luck and scheduling.

I think I might just end up renting a trailer from Uhaul...

Hey,
BCAA plus is good(1tow 160km). The premier memebership even better.(2tows 320km)
I am not sure exactly what the policy is with ferries.
They are not huge fans of signing up and immediately getting a tow,
but I have done it.

You wanna get it home or to a shop?
Where is home?

Glen at CCauto on occasion will go get a vehicle
on the mighty CCauto flatdeck. This of course
is for customers that will be getting work done.

Good Luck! 8-)

quadra is an awesome spot eh?

BCAA has areas with no service.
Once I got stuck on Pender with a dead battery, and they just told me "sorry, we don't service that area" and i have the premium with RV, most bad-ass expensive membership..
So I never even bothered calling them, especially that I'd have to be present for them to tow it.

Uhaul trailer is your best bet.. i had a situation like this.. however i was on Cortes Island... it was a long day getting back.. all the towing guys that are on the island are useless..
Its all about the Right Way:

ok thanks.
I was leaning towards uhaul, especially after talking to BCAA...They do NOT like anything off the beaten trail.
