ICE in your Deli

Post by prairiefire »

I'm wondering if any Deli drivers over here have much in the form of an "In Car Entertainment" set-up. I spend a lot of time in my L400 with my two kids and they love it. My plans are to set-up one of these with a flip down LCD Monitor in the back to keep them occupied.

I run one hooked up to my HD TV and absolutely love the thing. I'm curious to know your thoughts about this idea.

It looks like it is designed for home use, so I am not sure you'll be able to use the remote if the box is mounted under a seat or somewhere else that isn't in direct view of the remote control. Also, the storage is not SSD, this means the disk drive storage for the media is a standard hard disk drive, not the most weatherproof option. On the flip side, I see these units on ebay for under 100 bucks, so maybe it is worth a try but for the time and effort, I would consider a media player that is actually designed for vehicular use. Just my 2 cents.

Aww Schucks, I got all excited at your topic, because to me ICE means In Case of Emergency, and thought we would swap search and rescue stories or Anti-Zombie Delica preparation.

So, for in vehicle entertainment you need to see Jay's setup in his van (Chevy) and boat, he has flip down from ceiling ones ($$), and he did all the wiring and install; best hint is if you use home monitors get ones that actually are 12 volt (they will have a that black box like you have on laptops etc to stepdown the voltage from AC to DC, so now you can just wire directly to the vans DC, way more efficient wiring).

We are planning a mini meet sometime next few days, so stay tuned for that.

Regards, Christine and Jay.

Almac, you are the KING OF ANTI-ZOMBIE preparation, hence you are welcome here anytime and maybe the mini meet for you should be Show N Tell ones's anti-zombie gear. Cheers, Christine.
