Hi Everyone, I'm working on importing a Deli myself and have this question. Does anyone know what the deal is on having extra parts put in a van in Japan before it is shipped? I have heard both sides. Some people say that they didn't think it was permissible and some saying that it is no problem.
I need some reliable answers. That's why I have turned to the Delica.ca site.
Looking forward to being part of this forum and actually owning a Delica.

Re: Have you Imported yourself?
You can put whatever you want if ship in container, and still can put smth if ship by RORO, but in that case custom can take it out or port workers steal...

Did they change the rule?Green1 wrote:you can put whatever you want in the vehicle... but remember to declare it at customs!
As far as I know, all stuff from your car will be confiscated if shipped by RORO. It is common approach for RORO shipping, to Europe etc...
Thanks!

confiscated? or stolen? RORO has a tendency that anything not bolted down (and some things that are) tend to vanish...As far as I know, all stuff from your car will be confiscated if shipped by RORO. It is common approach for RORO shipping, to Europe etc...
the key is you can't SMUGGLE things in, as long as they're declared customs doesn't care how they got to the border.

Re: Have you Imported yourself?
I spoke with All Cargo Express today and they informed me that they have several customers that regularly bring in spare parts in vehicles and if the vehicles are in containers they rarely have any troubles. There is nothing wrong with bringing in whatever you want in a vehicle as long as it is declared as Green1 mentioned above. With RORO there is definitely more possibility of things going missing, but they are not being confiscated, they are being stolen.
Anyway bottom line for me is that I'm going to have the items I want shipped with my van as it's coming in a container. I don't anticipate there being any problems.
