Not at all. I guess it depends on the original conditions.

I think you guys are focusing on the wrong things. It's always about more cowbell ~ tell me, let's say you go to the dentist have a regular check up and while you are there he performs a special coating of fluoride on your teeth ~ do you think you will be able to run down the block faster, carrying a two hundred pound backpack?? Maybe the engine will just be better protected from carbon deposits, or something.

Don't mind me..... just purging.

On the benz every time I did a purge I noticed more power and less smoke afterwards... but it usually took 2 bottles.

There are also some easy steps to miss if you don't think about it too much.
- DON'T use all of the purge, the purge is being cycled through the engine and back to the bottle, always stop when there's still about 1/4 cup of fluid in the bottle (it'll probably be on the blackish side)
- DO change the fuel filter after the purge, what didn't end up in the bottle probably did end up in the fuel filter, change it.

That said, if your problem is a blocked air filter, or a mis-adjusted injection pump, or any of a number of other issues, this won't solve it, many things can cause you issues, and there is no one magic fix that does all of them (except it appears, drop it off at CVI and tell them to have fun.... )

The pictures above show that we were using a cheap in-line fuel filter to avoid the issue you mentioned. The bottle was DIRECTLY connected to the IP. Also me and Delicat did not have any obvious issues with engines and were wondering if the purge could make a difference that we could notice after.

I wouldn't expect a noticeable improvement if no noticeable issues existed in the first place... however it is still a good precautionary move to do this once a year to prevent gunk accumulating inside the engine. (which will eventaully lead to more smoke and worse performance)

i got the purge for my benz, its 30 years old! as for the delica, i think it might be overkill, but it can maybe be a cheap and quick fix if theres a small problem, but probably not

This is exactly my point. After all it is simple, cheap and fast.
Falco does preventative waxing all the time which takes much more time and money with more noticeable results though. Maybe I would better switch to waxing .

Wished I had brought my 2nd bottle with me. I had cleaned my injectors just before leaving for my trip, that brought my EGT down to 650-750F at 100km/h (was upward to 900 before). Once I got to Ontario I noticed my EGT started going up again, around 800F for 100km/h. Seems like the veggie is gumming the injectors a bit.

To help out I now mix 10% diesel with my wvo, it's been good so far but would love to try that purge again... I'll be on the lookout for one locally.

although i done believe that your injectors should gum up from WVO if its preheated properly...

Gotta love this forum, thanks After Oil! Hopefully I`ll be able to find some locally.

I`m not sure why it wasdoing this, the oil in my tank is heated, my filter is heated and I have an in-line heater before the injectors that gets real hot so that shouldn`t be a problem but I noticed that if you drive the van harder it actually clears it a bit, go figure.

I made it to my parent`s place last night (Northern Quebec) and it`s been a good drive! The EGT actually came down a bit for a while (I was driving 105-110 instead of 90-95) so I`m still happy with how it went.

I managed to drive all the way with using only a quater tank of diesel, better than expected! I think I averaged about 11.5 L per 100km while on wvo and still have a full tank to drive around. Going back might be a different story!

I did this yesterday. Here is a video I took for anyone looking to do it in the future.



Don't forget to crack the bolt on the fuel filter housing and prime the filter after reinstalling the two lines and before starting it back up.
