Intercooler Air Intake Bug Collector!

Post by CREGAN »

Anyone have a screen or something to keep the bugs out on their turbo air intake on the hood. I have a rather large disgusting collection of bees and other bugs on the intercooler, which can't be good. Did your deli come with one or did you have to create it? I have just been blowing the crap off with the compressor. Thanks

sounds like a good mod to make an 'EZKleen Intercoolerrr Skreen'. My intercooler was caked with 15years of bug guts when I took it off for a good cleaning.

So nobody has come up with a sweet ass mod for this? In my mind I want to make something like one of those grill inserts like you see on pick-up trucks that clips in. How.... I don't know yet. I did try to put screen over the intercooler and that was a waste of about half an hour. I just want to find something that would keep all the crud blown up at you out of the engine bay, and look cool of course.

Forgot about this thread. I ended up just cutting a piece of fine metal screen big enough to cover the intercooler, removed the plastic shroud, placed the screen underneath it and reattached the shroud. Works great, cleans up the look of it a bit too. Whenever I wash my vehicle I make sure to rinse off the intercooler, but I have not had any build up of bugs and little pebbles like I did before. Interested in other solutions though!

I've heard the hard-core RVing crowd sometimes sprays their cleane radiators/etc. with PAM or equivalent cooking spray.

Doesn't keep the bugs off, but apparently a quick rinse and off they come.
