Impending Doom
Ok it has started, prepare now before it is too late. Don't be another statistic. Prepare now before it is too late.
In NFLD, govt highway signs say it all. My preparations for a zombie Apocalypse vehicle is now accelerating into high gear.
I am now looking for a few items that I still need. And help would be appreciated I need a flame thrower, a Phalanx CIWS, also an either a 20mm or 25mm chain gun. My solar powered electric zombie fence is almost finished with the install, I will post pics soon.

Even the US government is preparing

Re: Impending Doom
Ah yes...one of my favourite topics
So...how many of you have a bag of essentials in your van to survive for, oh, a week maybe? Forget zombies for a minute (just one short minute gtj), think earthquake, tsunami...that kinda thing. All very plausible stuff. Could happen today, tomorrow, or right after I hit "send". How prepped are you?
I work in Richmond. I used to joke with my colleagues that the only thing for me to have in the boot of my car to survive, is an inflatable boat! They used to laugh. Until Japan.
OK, say Richmond doesn't sink. But all the bridges come down. Well, maybe the Alex Fraser is the only one left standing. Just imagine....Alex Fraser on any given day. Now imagine Alex Fraser as the only bridge to hordes of panicked folks trying to get home. Remember, the closest military (hence civil defence) unit is in, where, Edmonton? They closed the BC one right? I understand that the US base in Seattle is part of the rescue plan. And I understand that all the barges etc that ply the Fraser will be put into service as ferries. But how long will that take? What will you eat and drink?
So what have YOU got in your van to get you home to your loved ones?

Re: Impending Doom
Due to Operational Security I can not specifically list all preparations. Survivors can be equally dangerous.
Skid plates are good, it prevents damage to you essential driving components when mowing. An angled bushguard is also an integral component. The current deli form is only good for small walkers. Look out for the really small ones in Nanimo as the could be teething offspring of other members.
72hours is the minimum preparedness you need to be for normal catastrophes, flood, fire, tsunamis, pestilence, etc. Have water purification and a ham radio, hams can get you to safe areas. Edged weapons are superior to bullets, but have both, you may need the range.
Never get out of the deli is a good rule
From the Zombieland movie here are some good ground rule to get you started.
1. Cardio
2. The Double Tap
3. Beware of Bathrooms
4. Wear Seat Belts
5. No Attachments
6. The “Skillet”
7. Travel Light
8. Get a Kick Ass Partner
9. With your Bare Hands
10. Don’t Swing Low
11. Use Your Foot
12. Bounty Paper Towels
13. Shake it Off
14. Always carry a change of underwear
15. Bowling Ball
16. Opportunity Knocks
17. Don’t be a hero (later crossed out to be a hero)
18. Limber Up
19. Break it Up
20. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, unless it’s a sprint, then sprint
21. Avoid Strip Clubs
22. When in doubt Know your way out
23. Zipplock
24. Use your thumbs
25. Shoot First
26. A little sun screen never hurt anybody
27. Incoming!
28. Double-Knot your Shoes
29. The Buddy System
30. Pack your stain stick
31. Check the back seat
32. Enjoy the little things
33. Swiss army Knife

Re: Impending Doom
Machete, axes, bats, Molotov cocktails and crow bars are all my weapon of choice during the zombie appoco but sometimes you need a silenced long barrel or when the SHTF a scatter gun. Good reloading equip is also good, as there may be more materials available then loaded rounds. For extended long range use the 20mm or 25mm chain guns, combined with optics these bad boys can lay out zombies more the 2km away. The Phalanx is good for close in support but may make the deli top heavy, a small electric Gatling gun would be a better choice. While chain saws may sound great they, are slow to cut, run on fuel, not great when two or more zombies are within range, and the whole blood born pathogens thing.
Since the Rapture is over or just postponed, the time is nigh.
