suspension for the pajero
Hey all tossing this question out there for those who may have these on their beasts, I am looking to toss some new suspension on my pajero as it seems to have quite a big rake on it, now I initially suspected this was because of some tow package or something but that is not the case it seems more that the front shocks have had it, and front ride has become a bit rough so I wanted to upgrade to something more useful for every day driving and when i hit the trails maybe some more ground clearance.
I was looking at these since the price seems okay only down side is doing away with the adjustable suspension.

It says it can lift 1" all around and this would be a nice addition for offroading and if my saggy front it a cause of blown shocks it would be nice to see it level'd out.
I would also like to add if i would get this kit to purchase the my ride controller so I am able to adjust it remotely to my liking, it seems to be getting decent reviews and would suffice for use on the pajero. and for the price including the cost of the controller coming in at 600 bucks at my door, it seems very appetizing, if anyone else can offer insight, reviews or even other reccomendations would be appreciated.
thanks

I'd try cranking your torsion bars first before committing to getting shocks...

Re: suspension for the pajero
Im pretty sure the rancho's won't lift your ride at all, they are just longer by 1" to accommodate a lift. What he said, try the torsions first. They stiffen up the ride a fair bit and will add an inch or more of lift depending how far you go.
Once you get the height where you want it, measure both sides from the top of the wheel well to make sure its sitting even. Then I'd drive a few days to make sure it is not too stiff (like the first time I cranked mine, took a while to decide to slacken them off a bit) and when you know you're happy get an alignment and then your new shocks. If you've raised the front more than an inch or so, you may want to consider trimming your upper bump stops to re gain the drop travel you lose.
I was thinking of going the adjustable rancho route, but it seems these mitsu shocks have alot of life left in them and they don't overheat and become useless on the FSR's like a few that I've had. (older rancho's, monroe, procomp) Too bad they're so expensive.

Re: suspension for the pajero
I may not drive a Paj but I have RS9000s on my Chamonix (L300). After installing the RS9000s I had another leaf added to my rear suspension, which consequently led to re-indexing my torsion bars. The whole exercise lifted my wagon one and an half inches ~ shocks still work fine. Again, I not sure if this is relevant to a paj but there is a range in the shock.

Re: suspension for the pajero
you could crank the t-bars up fromt, old man emue coils on the back thats what i did at first. but didnt like the ride,Or you can also go to a coil-over shock front and rear. they worked good on my truck, and as a bonus you dont need to mess about with the t-bars, I ended up with 2inch lift front and 1.5 inch lift in the back the coil overs can also be adjusted .75 of a inch more if you want.

Hi, a question for 92nicopolis.... what brand coilover shocks did you use, my old adjustables need replacing and coilovers might be a good place to start.. Thanks

Re: suspension for the pajero
Hey mitsubill... i put Edelbrock performers on mine, bought them from a midas store, I dont know the part #. But if you tell them the stock travel (from rest) and the kind of load the will have on them most of the time they can tell you the best ones for you,
there are a lot of brands to pick from. I picked edelbrock because the were in stock and a little cheaper than pro-comp. hope this helps

Re: suspension for the pajero
There are a few other discussions in the Delica technical forum on what shocks are more suitable for mitsu delicas which are pretty relevant.
If you are in the GTA, it is near impossible to get Billistein shocks right now. They are back ordered until January. However KYB shocks would do you nicely if you do lots of highway driving mixed with trails/dirt roads and want stiff cornering capabilities.
If you want to get them in the USA, goto www.autozone.com and look for the suspension for a 92 Montero and KYB's should be offered. If you want to get them in the GTA, I recommend carquest and give them the part numbers from the autozone website...
I just did mine, and my pajero lifted about 3/4"-1" all around from the worn out original shocks. If you want the original Mitsu shocks Milner off road will have them... I can even send you pictures of how my truck looks with KYB if you really want to see.
cheers,
JR
