ok so i woke up and noticed my dad moved my deli out cozz i was blocking him in (this would be around 8).so when i woke up around 9:30 i go out to move the car back in cozz he parked it like an ass .i get in and the key is stuck in the egnition and wont pull out,the radio was the only this on, no lights or anything.when i try to start the deli the glow plugs and everyhting light up but when i turn it everything just turns off doesnt even murmer or do the whole regerege thing that most dead battries do when they cant start.

Re: engin not turning over
This might be too stupid a suggestion, but seeing as I did it just yesterday it might be worth checking out. I was in the A&W parking lot handing out the food to the kids with the radio on, when I tried to start the vehicle, nothing. Everything switched off, but no noise from the starter at all. Turns out I'd stopped the engine in Drive and I had to shift back to Park before I could start it. There were probably a good 20 seconds of WTF before i figured it out.

Re: engin not turning over
I'm tempted to agree with the last poster, these vehicles will not start in anything but park, and they won't let you remove the key in any other position either, so if it was left in drive or even neutral you'll have exactly what you describe...key is stuck in the egnition and wont pull out,the radio was the only this on, no lights or anything.when i try to start the deli the glow plugs and everyhting light up but when i turn it everything just turns off doesnt even murmer or do the whole regerege thing that most dead battries do when they cant start.
beyond that, everything except the stuck key could easily be explained by a dead battery.

Only 20 seconds? You're good. It took me several minutes of sweating to figure it out.Adam wrote:There were probably a good 20 seconds of WTF before i figured it out.

I cranked and throttled and choked a motorcycle engine for about 5 minutes once swearing and stressing until I realized the kill switch was on

On the subject of "stoopid things I've done", the day after I got my deli, went to the store and when I came out it started fine but wouldn't go into gear. After much huffing and puffing (and a few bad words), I put my foot on the brake and it shifted just fine! LOL

Re: engin not turning over
Never had the issue in the Delica... but only because I nearly ended up calling a towtruck once for my previous car... it just would not start (in my defence, the lever did appear to be in park, it just wasn't ALL the way in to park) now it's one of the first things I check.
