The original post contained unnecessary inflammatory references directed at the dealer, a competing dealer then saw it fit to weigh in, and the situation rapidly degenerated into (well quite frankly) an infantile pissing match. Upon consulting with Falco, we both agreed that it would be impractical and inappropriate to “selectively” delete only portions of the thread, and that the more appropriate course of action would be to remove it altogether.
Dealer Feedback, Beefs and Bouquets are an important function of this board, as these help us become aware of which dealers Delica.ca members are happiest with.
However, a dissatisfied customer has the responsibility to make every attempt possible to resolve their dispute directly with the dealer before “going public” on the internet.
Furthermore, “Beef” posts should stick strictly to the verifiable facts, and should never stray into derogatory character references. This is particularly true in cases where the Courts are involved, since your comments potentially may be entered into evidence.
Example of Acceptable Beef:
Example of an Unacceptable Beef:“I was disappointed by my recent experience with XYZ Motors. When I dropped off my van for service Tuesday late afternoon, the service adviser told me that my van would be stored in their secured lot. When I returned to pick up my vehicle the next day, I was shocked to find that my vehicle had been vandalized. After questioning the service advisor, he admitted that the secured lot had been full, and that they parked my van in the back alley overnight instead. I know that insurance will provide some coverage, but my brand new custom paint job will just never look the same!”
The board member who posted the original message has been encouraged to focus on resolving his differences with the dealer privately, and if his efforts should fail to compose another post detailing specific issues with the dealer.“Frank for XYZ is a lying cheat. I should have know this from the moment I walked into XYZ (he looks like a sleaze). Beware of XYZ – Everybody should know that these slimy idiot scums are just looking to rip you off!”
In order to avoid similar situations in the future, the ability to post in Dealer Beef thread discussions will now be restricted to individuals DIRECTLY involved in the dispute (this normally would involve one customer and one dealer). Please do not post to Dealer Beef threads unless you are directly involved in the dispute, as your thread will be removed.
Thank you for your understanding.
