Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

help trouble shoot a/c

hi
in turtle, the refrigerant has been recharged, according to jesse, but no cold. i have the charging tool, its got a quick release on it that goes on the valve (like shop air hoses' quick release) but the quick release wont click down on the adaptor valve. its as if something is in the way but nothing i can see.
the rpm doesnt idle up when the a/c button is engaged
now, lets assume for a mintue that the thing is charged, what else can malfunction? switches? fuses? cant find a fuse that says a/c...
ill be in the nevada desert with 5 in the van in about 2 weeks.. i gotta work this out!!

no thanks to any of you people, who are obviously too busy to help a guy out :P i have discovered that the a/c radiator type thing, silver in color, in front of the Rad, has a leak in it. i made that leak by drilling it by mistake when i drilled a hole i nthe firewall from the foot well to get the wire harness through it..
so if there is no pressure, would that mean the compressor wont turn b/c of a low pressure cut off switch?
anybody? bueller? buelller?

NO help here...when a/c stops working I switch to windows.....never fixed one in my life

well, this whole thread is moot b/c i figured it out! i jumped the contact at the relay plug to discover the compressor and the fan work just fine. so i determined its just the leak. i put a can of sealant in, and it all leaked out.. but i though what the heck, ive already wasted a bunch of $$ might as well test if the worked, but of course it didnt...

so i caused it and solved it... now i jsut gotta do the work! lucky i justs got a parts van so i have the part!

You might be able to solder the hole (or personally a big fan of JB Weld)....

hm, interesting idea. sadly the onyl way to know if the jb weld or solder holds is to charge it with refrigerant... like i said ive only wasted 3 cans so far!

what you you do? just push a bunch of jb weld in from both sides and hope for the best?

JB Weld is just an epoxy like so I would try to bend the fins back and get access to both sides. Clean it up and seal it up. Stuff works good I had a Certified welder sale me on the stuff (he did not want to weld up something really delicate for me and recommended it)

Could you charge it with air first to see if holds pressure? not sure if adding air would be bad (if it has a hole it has air in there anyhow. Or swap the rad out should be enough Delicas being wrecked to get a rad from

I have JB weld holding the speed sensor on my car for 2 years no problems and I know of a city bus with it holding the back diff cover on.... Another friend used it to seal up the frame on his BMW motorbike that is also the oil tank (that one I would have welded but each their own).

ill try to get a better look at it, but its in a hard to see hard to reach spot of course... as for testing for leaks, i just read the way to do it is put a vacuum on and se if it holds vacuum for a period

David (DJ) can perform miracles with nothing. The average joe would hesitate to tread where he goes. Ha Ha

Epoxy may work but will cost you if it fails. Air pressure would work but... you don't have the correct fitting to pressurize the system with either air or refridgerant. Repressure from the low pressure compressor side.

Tough luck but I would replace the (?) condenser properly, evacuate the system and repressurize it properly. Search air conditioning or AC for my previous bits.

If I had parts van I would just swap it out!

it was a good day... removed rad and condenser from parts van, then same from Turtle. installed parts condenser in turtle, then reinstalled same rad (the hose sleeve on the upper rad has chunks missing and some rust :shock:) got everything back together and running... total time approx 5 hours...

i gotta get some refrigerant before i can carry on
