i am trying to source a new backing plate for my delica 1985 starwagon glx but cant seem to find a year that is similar that people will sell parts for.closest i could find was a 1990 would that fit or would it be completly differant does any1 know?

I'm not a hundred percent sure on this but isn't your wagon a second generation Delica? Did not the third generation come out in 1986? Check this link out, it may shed some light on the matter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Delica
We have manuals in L300 Delica Downloads that you could compare with. Is your wagon a diesel? Is it the 4D56T Astron engine?

It seems to me that the Delica changed gradually from inception to the L300, then made a drastic change with the L400. I was just revising your post in Member's Rides ~ could you post a picture of the engine and the front axle? Do you ever get her onto a hoist? A shot of the undercarriage would be most helpful.

P.S.: What exactly do you mean by a "backing plate"? A backing plate for what, where does it go? When I first read your post I thought you were talking about a "blanking plate" for the EGR valve.
