Rear tire holder stuck

Post by dfnder »

Seems my I cannot loosed the nut/bolt on my tire carrier. I have resorted to using a jack to lift up the carrier to be able to twist the bolt and slide out the J from it's lock position. I hope I dont have a flat while away from home as it would be real difficult. Has anyone had a similar situation, I am almost about to grind off the top of the bolt to remove it completely. I'm looking for advice or a new J shape bolt unit for a replacement.

cheers

Make sure you are cranking the bolt counter clockwise. And no Im not cracking wise, but stranger things...etc.

Get below and spray in a good penatrant oil. Let stand 5 minutes and serve!

When its taken apart hit the entire assem. with some grease. Should be good the repeat every tire rotation or so.
Thanks,

HI Dfender, just as white mule says. Its not usually a problem (or just that few people have actually tried it), the peoples that I have tested were easily loosened by me (one of those things that I insist newby people try out for themselves). Its probably a 21 wrench (which I don't have so I use a sloppy 22 wrench). To be certain, this is the bolt about 10 inches to the right of the door latch which is centre on the rear door. Butch at CVI might have a parts L300 still around. If you're in town, stop by Jays shop or our home, maybe try an impact wrench on it. Christine.
