Hey guys.
Just wondering, has anyone removed the upper ceiling speakers (above rear hatch window) in an L-300? I've read these speakers only came with the Sound Stage Karaoke option. Just wondering what the process is, ie; are the covers attached with body plugs, do I need to remove ceiling/wall panels to access the speakers etc.? I tried prying a little to see if they indeed were attached with body plugs, but didn't want to damage anything, so I chickened out! I did a search but nothing came up.
Any help would be rad!

I've removed them, there are just plastic clips holding them in I believe. Mine work with my NA stereo though.

There is a cover that is over top of screws which holds the grille in place - I seem to remember it's the part with the lettering. Remove that first, unscrew the grille, and the speaker is behind that.
Are you looking to remove completely, or replace with newer? Depending on the state of the cone, replacement may not be necessary.

Yes, now that I think about it, the lettering does have to come off first.mararmeisto wrote:There is a cover that is over top of screws which holds the grille in place - I seem to remember it's the part with the lettering. Remove that first, unscrew the grille, and the speaker is behind that.

Re: Removal of Ceiling speakers in L-300?
Thanks for your replies guys!
Mararmeisto, I'm replacing the stereo & speakers entirely. I've already replaced the head unit for a Kenwood w/USB port, as well as the dash speakers (regrettably with 3.5" ones that snap/crackle/pop with any low end. I'll most likely remove these & put some 4" or 5.25" ones in the door) & the mid 5.25" speakers. HUGE difference from the stock setup! Just in the process of finishing up with the rear ceiling ones. JBL GTO series all around! I'll eventually add an amp & sub down the road, but for now I'm just happy with the upgrade!
Rising Sun, I had forgotten that post! I contacted Glenn a while back when I first saw it, enquiring about that killer speaker shelf, thanks for jogging my memory!
