91, Super Exceed.
I am aware of the people who make racks, etc. I'm looking for one that is already made and available... and hopefully near Victoria!
I'd say about $800 would be the max.

Re: Roof Safari Rack / Cage
I too am interested in the exact same thing but in the Kelowna area. How did you make out? Did you find something affordable that's sturdy? If so please let me know as I'm really interested for cage like that one in link but don't want to spend that much. I have a L400 Spacegear with crystal lite roof.
Thanks
Thanks

I can't say enough about Noel and his crew at EnviroImports (in Victoria). He's customized a rack for us that can carry 6 whitewater kayaks (tested on the highway with 6, I think we can easily safely do 10), has extendable sides, and an amazing safari box that goes on and off easily, and is set up to do some transformation to a kayak rack without taking it off the roof. His prices are good, but it all depends what you ask for how much it would cost. The workmanship is incredible.
He even drove up from Victoria to Nanaimo to bring us the box and help me install it. Phenomenal service.
I'll post pictures once I get it all adjusted right in the next couple of days.

When it comes to aluminum light weight but sturdy custom roof racks, expect to pay around $1,000-1,600. Anything custom will cost more than an off the shelf Yakima rack or similar. Although if you look at aluminum full length roof racks from ARB/Rhino, etc... you'd end up paying more than what Noel at http://enviroimports.com charges.vanermi wrote:I'm really interested for cage like that one in link but don't want to spend that much
If you're topping out at $800, you may ask around the dealers to see if they will give you a 3/4 length JAOS aluminum rack off an L300 or L400.
In the case of metal fabrication, you do get what you pay for. Wanting a full length rack that is light and cheap does not mix.
Light
Sturdy
cheap
Those three don't mix. If you want good quality $$$.
