Trouble lights

Post by Carp »

I could use a bit of advice regarding my dash trouble lights. A few weeks ago three bulbs started glowing faintly at the same time. They were the "water in fuel pump" the "battery" and the "A/T" light. two are side by side so I thought perhaps the light was just bleeding through. Anyway, instead of glowing faintly, they are on solid now. I have drained the fuel pump and have checked the tranny fluid and the battery is charging just fine so I am out of ideas., Anyone?

The charging system seems to be working great so I believe that indicates a healthy alternator.

If those three lights are on when the engine is running, you have a problem with the charging system.

alternator X4

Check the wire on the back and the battery terminals first...

Mine was flashing the lights on start up and once and a while...never had a starting issue both batteries are 12.5V with motor off. Start truck and 12.3V is all the alternator could put out.

just had it rebuilt $224.00 including the oil seal for the vacuum pump L300. Installed myself.

Now it puts out 14V at fast idle as it should.

Thanks to all for your assistance. I have an alternator being shipped to me and I hope to be back on the road by the weekend, thanks to Mardy as well.

Are you getting your alternator from Rising sun imports? If so it is a good replacement but before warned the stock connector is not the same. If you pick up a 2 pin weather pack both ends and install the connector before installing the alternator you will save yourself some grief.

Good luck
Dustin
Measure it twice, cut once. Dam still cut wrong
