Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

I'm assuming that for primarily Lower mainland use with only the occasional start below -10 that 15W-40 full synthetic should be fine!?

I use 5W40 from Nov - Mar or 5,000km-ish for the winter oil change interval.

You will notice a difference even at 0 cel between 15w40 and 5w40.

After a winter in the East (Ottawa) I can say that for those -30 morning the 0w40 was the best choice I could make! Engine would start (almost) like in the summer (L400). It's a world of difference!

I use 0/40 in the winter.
Come November depending on the temp's I do the switch to synthetic.
In the summer I use dino oil 15/40
In Saskatchewan I don't mess around. I need my vehicle to start whether it's
plugged in or not.
Good batteries help too. (two of them)

I just bought the Royal Purple 5W-40 synthetic oil. I was at Lordco and they told me that I couldn't buy it on big bottles (like you can with the 15W-40) which means instead of spending just under $100 for 6.5L you end up spending over $200. The solution was to complain about having to buy 7 bottles. :-D They ended up knocking the price down by about 2/3, from $29.36 to $9.197. 8-)

So we've established that 15W-40 isn't as good in the winter. How does 5W-40 work for summer months? Would the only concern be leaking?

Since you have to change your oil every 3 months or 4000km (Unless you have a bypass system). Why not run the oil for the conditions.

I ask because I won't be driving very much this winter and will most likely be installing a bypass system...

Yes but oil starts to break down the minute it is run through the motor once....that is why you get a date or mileage for the next oil change....Oil is cheep engines are not!!!

I personally like a thicker oil in very hot conditions at start up when the oil is cold....

True, I'm thinking every 10,000km with a fram filter, bypass and royal purple full synthetic. Even doing it myself that's not a cheap oil change!

(sorry for the hijack), so I am due for an oil change, and I'll be leaving in a couple of weeks for the interior for hunting. But for the remainder of the winter I will be mostly in Vancouver with a few trips to the mountains and Princeton as well. Do I use synthetic, 5w30, 0w30? I don't know where to start....too many options!

From what I've been told (I have very similar plans for travelling this winter) 5W-40 would be the one to choose...
