Headlight Headaches

Post by pajerry »

I'm having some issues with what I am assuming is related to the DRL setup...

Since purchasing the vehicle it has been burning out the low-beams on the left headlight every six months or so. I just kinda live with it and then replace it before roadtrips or hwy driving but that was getting both annoying and expensive. Now the front right has burned out as well so I have no low beams on either light and although the high-beams work, they don't seem as bright.

The reason I suspect the DRL wiring is I remember reading a couple accounts of similar bugs depending on how it was wired. Anybody have a schematic of the headlight system for Pajero and a good DRL mod so I can start troubleshooting?

Thanks!! :M

Can`t help out with a wiring diagram, but just a thought, why use the headlights for drl, would it not work running the drl mod to aux driving lights like a led light bar or something similar. seems to me that using low beams constantly as drl is just going to create problems but then maybe I don`t understand how the drl system works :?

Not sure about that one. In my eyes it could be easier/more sensible to fix the current system making sure that it works properly instead of mounting and wiring another set of lights and still not having a reliable low beam. I need to double check the DRL module but have no idea where to look for it nor do I have stock diagrams to compare it to.

Driving around using the highbeams tilted down, I've noticed that they really arn't very bright either.. maybe as bright as a newer vehicle's low beam, if that. I'm starting to think rewiring the system would be best

I had a problem with my DRL module failing and causing havoc with my lights. one day they would work, the other nothing.

I finally just riped the DRL module out. all wiring is as stock with no daytime running lights. If i feel the need for DRL's while driving(foggy, bad lighting, rain etc.), i simply click on the low beams, high beams at night, light bar gets used daily in the bush(pesky dear and moose).

Yes, it is illegal but I don't care. I'm safe and I drive in a way that others around me are safe. you can make your own decision.
