Dash kit for L400 stereo
New Delica owner. We removed the Japanese radio and discovered the vinyl had already been broken. Then Chris, my husband, wrecked it completely. Photos below of what we are looking for...and general advice about where to find stuff like this...thanks.

Re: Dash kit for L400 stereo
Bummer. That piece is like $200+ new
Any of the usual Delica dealers should have them instock since they are an easily broken item.

Re: Dash kit for L400 stereo
I know! One of the dealers has already offered a new one at $280! I was hoping somebody had a parts-van with one of these in it. I'd rather do some restoration on this one than fork over $300 right now.
Re: Dash kit for L400 stereo
Just fix it. Glue it together well - use epoxy and build up the seams on the inside. Take your time to find ways to "clamp" it together so the fit is good and the original lines are intact. Be patient. You might try taping the glued piece down to a supporting structure made of cardboard.
Once you have restored the structure, fill any gaps in the face and sand out the whole thing (by hand, take care) right up to a really fine grit. Prime it and paint it. You'll probably want to mask out the black parts and the clear display.
Color match or just make it another color you like that will make your van original.
For $280 this is totally worth it.

To be honest, I don't remember now! I either got it from Rocky Mountain Imports, or from Noel at Enviroimports.
I paid for it online, and it showed up at the greyhound depot North of Victoria BC.
It was not cheap, but the stereo installer shredded my previous console so bad he tried to fix it with hot glue (and failed).

I got a new one for $0 from my dealer but the friend of mine just fixed his broken one. As RichD said it is worth it.

Re: Dash kit for L400 stereo
you can easily fix that one looking at the pictures. The main body is intact.
Do as RichD suggests and you'll save yourself $280. You'll need between $5-15 of epoxy/sandpaper and touch up paint.

Re: Dash kit for L400 stereo
If you have the time , try fix it as RichD and Jesse suggested. I will and spent the money saved towards a nice stereo. Yes, lots of patience but I don't think is that hard. May be fun!

Yes, I am thinking I will try to fix it myself. The tabs that lock it in place, though, are broken off. These are the parts that the previous owner broke. We discovered this when we were removing it. I'm pretty sure the little tabs are gone...perhaps they are not really needed?

Re: Dash kit for L400 stereo
You don't need all of the tabs but that plastic is super brittle and when you rebuild you have to fill every cavity you can on the back

Re: Dash kit for L400 stereo
So, ove last several weeks I've slowly been glueing pieces together. So far there are 17 separate joins. I've been letting the joins cure 24 hours before starting new ones, so it has been slow. Today, as I was doing what I thought was the last join, I made two more breaks. A piece I was trying to glue back in place literally crumbled in my fingers. I've stuck them all back together again but I'm not optimistic of our chances of even sliding the darn thing into place without breaking something. So I guess I'm going to start looking for a new one! Problem is we leave in a few days on our trip...so I'm going to have to look for something along the way or in Ontario. Yeesh.

But I think there's no way to put 17 pieces together.
There are almost nothing used one in the market.
As a dealer we have 1 of 3 L400 has had a broken center console, so we most likely import and replace them with new ones.
Try a new center console and make it nice and neat.
