Yesterday we had our van parked up on the sloped lawn it rained and the lawn got wet instead of spinning the tires in 2wdh I shifter into 4wdh and reversed the van off the lawn, after stopping I shifted the van back into 2wdh. The 4wd indicator lights continued to flash after stopping but i assumed they would go off next time we drove it forward. The next time we drove it forward after about 20m the lights continued flashing we stopped shifted through the drive modes without moving (2wdh-4wdllc and back to 2wdh) and then drove forward the indicator lights went to 2wd and we figured all was good. We drove on a good condition forestry road and parked, when we went to reverse out of the spot with my foot feathering the brakes the front wheels locked up completly, no rotation even with the rear wheels pulling them through the gravel. so we drove forward no problem, back into reverse this time no brakes and the wheels rotated fine as soon as i touched the brakes(lightly) the front wheels seized up again, went forward no problem. this phenomenom has repeated it self multiple times when attempting to reverse. i have scoured the fourms but have come up empty. No brake dust on the wheels so calipers not seized?? i still need to get the front end up to see if wheels rotate freely but dont have level ground at home and i am waiting on a friend. brakes seem to operate as normal when going forward.
What is wrong with "Subi" we just got her from mardy a couple of weeks ago but cant get to vancouver til next weekend and dont know if we should be driving her to get there.

Re: front wheels will not rotate in reverse
I'm not sure it could be the auto hubs, because they should act independent of the front axles, so the only thing remaining is the front differential or the transfer case. Either way, I should think there would be some other indication of not-rightedness with those items, even when going forward.
I'm no mechanic, but there really isn't that many things that could be going on down there.

Re: front wheels will not rotate in reverse
I bet it is the brakes, have you tried reversing on dry pavement?
In my GF's 75 mini the brakes go out adjustment periodically and one front tire will lockup as soon as you touch the brakes. I think the Deli has somewhat updated brakes in comparison but your symptoms seem very similar.
Check your fluids and check the brake lines at the wheels for unseemly bulges when brakes are applied.

Found it, missing a bolt on the top of passenger side caliper, caliper was being pulled out of position and locking the break. Now just got to source a bolt on the sunshine coast.

Best check all your caliper bolts for tightness. If they loosen and sheer off you have a major problem.
good luck

Weird how it was grabbing in only one direction. I learned something new today.sfd_656 wrote:Found it, missing a bolt on the top of passenger side caliper, caliper was being pulled out of position and locking the break. Now just got to source a bolt on the sunshine coast.
