OK, so with everyone out there that has imported a van.. or for that matter changed the battery in their van... I would like to hear opinions on what the best bang for buck battery is for the mild coast?... for Alberta Cold? Anyone?
Thanks

Researched this awhile back, and found the web info pointed to the Energizer batteries from (hang on, this is a dirty word in this house) Wallymart for the most spark, for the least buck. They are cheapest but by no means the best, the Optima's that Noel's selling is a solid, and better battery. Her's has the biggest deepcycle Energizer, available from *******, and cost less then $100; it was the highest: amps/hour, and cold cranking amps available in a deep cycle (that fit's in the Deli).

Re: Best bang for buck Battery?
Hi, well Im clearly biased as I sell them, but I've been running the optima batteries for well over ten years and NEVER been let down by them and I used to drive logging trucks in northern Alberta, so I know the cold and how hard a diesel can be to start.
even if you dont buy one from me the optimas can't be beaten, and the regular batteries can die from a bumpy road, the optimas can be mounted upside down and never fail from shaking or just about any abusive situation you could put your vehicle through.
Red tops are for starting . thats your best choice for all around serious power.

sometimes just $20 more on a $90 battery might get you 2x better quality. stick with a brand name and highest cca. deep cycle batteries are constructed different so as to release their energy at a lower rate for a longer time versus much higher amps for a shorter time on a starting battery so they were never designed for engine starting (golf carts, camper auxilary, that sort of thing.)
