Transmission Crossover
Will a tranny from a montero gasser bolt up to a pajero diesel engine. From a 3.5l gasser to a 2.5 diesel, the tranny numbers are the same in the book, but are the bolt patterns the same?

Re: Transmission Crossover
I can't answer your question specifically, but I can tell you that the 2.8 diesel and 3.5L gas use larger transmissions (or at least oil pan) and is why they come with a 40mm body lift. Also, after years of browsing 4x4wire and some NZ and AUS forums, I have never heard of it being done.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Transmission Crossover
Not being a mechanic, but I should think that if the part numbers are the same, the parts are interchangeable.
That being said, I've found through life that that kind of logic doesn't always hold out. Go figure.
Did you wreck your transmission? Is that the reason for the prospective change?

Re: Transmission Crossover
Yeah I know. But I think you'd want to be sure before going through all the work of finding a wrecked montero. There aren't many if any in the lower mainland the last I checked. Please find one with a locker and let me know :)
I really doubt it bolts right up but if it does you'll be getting a much stronger tranny.
Are you looking for manual or auto?

Re: Transmission Crossover
nope I didnt wreck my tranny but I found one to have as a spare to rebuild and beef up to install into my pajero this summer coming up instead of having down time with my paj out of comission while I am rebuilding my tranny.
