Two must have Delica accessories from the Aussie site

Both of these are gleaned from the DelicaClub Australia forum.

First is a spare tire carrier that bolts to the tow bar, this I'd buy!

At $250 US looks pretty nice and I bet it sets up a whole heck of a lot faster than my older side door tent. Really like these SUV/Van tents, with the Deli as the bedroom and the tent as a dining/changing/bath/spare room; who needs a Westie

Only obvious downside is that they wouldn't work together to well. :-)

The other downside of the tent is damaging the paint.

You only want to use the tent on a trip. Chances are, your vehicle is covered in mud or dirt. Now you put the tent material on top of it. Gets the tent material dirty, and if it is windy, the material will flap about a little, and the dirt will be sandpaper on your paint job. The next day, when you are packing up, all that dirt on the tailgate and sides will have partially transferred to your tent, so you now have a very dirty tent to pack. Yuck.

I love the concept of these tents, but they just aren't practical for road trips.

Very good point, I never thought of that tube and a dirty rig. Makes my tent sound better. Really sold on van tents myself, such a great place to clean up, stay dry, and an air-lock from the squito's. Got the set up and take down perfected this summer; I just bought mine used this year. Just take down the up rights, roll it up (yes, with the poles - but only during the trip), and then throw the long tube in the back last. In this photo, from the Chilcotin, the squito's were so bad we packed up and were off in less than ten minutes.

Fresh from moding my tailgate - without having to worry about bashing my noggin - things just go flying in.

I have seen a couple of syncro's with really cool 2 man tent on the top of the vans.
You guys (and gals !!) know what i am talking about ? It is a really neat pop up set up. You go up the ladder and pop it up hop in and your done. NOw of course those middle of the night potty trips might get interesting ! Just wondering if anyone has done this.... :?

Many types of roof top tents are available, these are made in Nanaimo;

I'd dig a custom roof tent that could be entered and exited through my sunroof, that would be luxurious camping, lol
