More heater problems

Post by wherlwind »

We have a '95L400 with front and rear heaters. Air only blows lukewarm from both. When I adjust the temperature I can feel it warm up between 20 and 25 but it doesn't get any warmer as you max out the temperature contol. We bought the van in the spring from Mardy and I know he installed the usual new cooling system parts. Coolant levels are fine. Engine temps seem to be OK. I put cardboard in front of the rad when it was -20 earlier but made no difference at all. Do you think it could be the temperature contoller? Not too sure where to start diagnosis. Thanks, Pete

That was exactly my problem , do you have the digital temp control? then check my posting here http://www.delica.ca/forum/absolutley-n ... 23-15.html
the problem is the temp mixing valve control , I got lucky by by disassembling it and waving a wand and it worked , if it the little control motor doesn't respond to some love it could be bypassed with a mcguyvered manual control,

good luck

if not find the inlet and outlet hoses for heater core a bit of clr some patients and boom.... heat.... might take a few tries and make sure to clean out the acid as it loves brass as well..... but is really good on the calcium build up.... i need to do mine again cause its warm but not hot like it used to be.... i'll leave it in longer next time..... no more than two hours on full strength

I have pulled the heat module out and it does not seem to be working. Took it apart cleaned the contacts and still nothing. I can move the arm it is connected to to the warmest position but still doesn't blow very hot. I guess I should see about having the heater core flushed out next? Pete

Hi Mardy, I have taken the digital heat contol out from under the dash like Rik did. It seems to be stuck on the warmest setting but still doesn't blow hot like Rik's did. Is that the control you were speaking about or am I looking for something else? Thanks, Pete

hi, pete,
you have the heater control problem on this not the heater module top.
the module is located unter the heater core:
that motor is stuck in cold position. did fix some of this problem last week.
if you take it out and do it manualy then you got heat.
not if you still dont have heat and you put the position in heat position then sometime is wrong
check if the control panel when tunr on if the ac flakes mark is on.
if ac flakes mark is not then you wont have heat or if the temperature setting is on cold then you wont have heat.
check all of this one first then go from there.
you and also call me today
cheers;
mardy

Hi Mardy, the heater controls seem to be working okay when I turn them on and off. Heater module shuts off the lower door in the centre too. Still do not get much heat even at 32 degrees. Same with the rear heat. It is -20 here now and I am barely getting any heat at all, not even enough to defrost the front windshield properly. Any more ideas? Thanks, Pete
