So my Delica won't turn off....Well, I managed to get it shut down by unpluging some random wires by the engine and the lights off by disconecting a battery contact so I'm ok right now but it still won't shut off on its own when I do everything back up and try to turn it off again. I have a turbo timer and when it is pluged in the numbers on it are all messed up and the timer buttons on it don't work or change the display. It sounds like a electrical problem to me which means its waaaay over my head. Just stoked I got it to turn off by disconecting things as I am running low on deisel. I hear its bad to run out of fuel!
Any ideas? Thanks!

Turbo timers are meant to keep your engine running for a set amount of time after you turn the key to "off" so most likely that's what's causing the problem. I don't have one, so no idea how that's rigged, but quite likely removing it or fixing it will solve your problem.

The turbo timer that came on my JDM Celica GT Four keeps the vehicle running, as schwa said. The only way it turns off is to let it run for the preset amount of time, or cycle it down until it is down to zero (mine counts down from 5 minutes to 1 minute and then off). I guess with the display messed up and the buttons not working, your best bet would probably be to remove it or replace it...

I was pretty sure it was the turbo timer also...Maybe it was stuck on depsite have the timer set to zero or something. But I did disconect the turbo timer as my first and most obvious move, but unfortunetly that wasn't it! Sure sounds like it should be though.
I guess its off to the shop tomorrow then!

Were your headlights on when you were trying to shut the van off? Japanoid informed me that some Japanese have their Delicas set up so that you can't shut them off with the lights switched on. Kind of an overkill to the "turn your lights off" buzzer.

Re: Help! Delica won't turn off!
one thing to note about diesel vehicles... on a gas vehicle you shut off the engine by turning off the electricity, no spark, no ignition... however on a diesel there is no spark in the first place, so the only way to stop the engine is by cutting off the fuel supply... I'm not sure how the delica does it specifically, however it's most likely an electric solenoid... if the solenoid is sticking "open" then the vehicle won't shut off....

yah mine had the over kill japanese light reduction system, I was a little surprised when I took out the keys, jumped from the van, then realised it was still running. I was like yo what the frak?
anyways ever since I blew a 1 of the 4 main fuses under the seat, its gone back to normal, except now none of my windows work, or power locks.
hmmmmm.
so anyone got one of those fuses kickin around somewhere. ???

If you have to turn off the headlamp to turn off the engine, it is not delica design, check your DRL hook up.
