Need Help!

Post by Squamishtoaster »

Hello. I have a '92 L300 with a manual transmission. It has ran great for the past 3 years but lately it has been giving me a problem. Sometimes the rpm's increase while in gear and driving but the van does not increase speed with the raise in rev's. For example: I will be driving at 60km/hr in 3rd gear doing 2500 rpm. Then the revs will increase to 3000rpm without me putting more pressure on the accelerator and the van will feel like it is not in gear. This has never happened before. It seems to be getting worse. Sometimes it feels like it wont make it up big hills. I hope that makes sense. I checked my brake resevoir and it was low so I topped it up but it didn't make a difference. I have noticed my master/ and slave both leak a little but that is a bout as far as my knowledge takes me. I will continue to search the posts for more info but if anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate your knowledge.

Thankyou!!

Hey,
Agree that it Sounds very much like a slipping clutch.
I would go get it looked at by a reputable Deli mechanic
while you can still drive it.
You should be able to get a new clutch and new
Front and back seals for under a grand. (I think so anyway)
Waiting until it is a big tow bill plus
unscheduled deli-lessness sucks!

Good Luck! 8-)

x4 clutch plates are disintegrating.

make an appointment for a clutch replacement/flywheel machine. CVI is one option in Richmond.

Not sure if you've thought about this but have you considered maybe a slipping clutch scenario? Image
