Where to buy curtains

Post by flyfishn »

Hello all. I have the top and bottom rails for curtains, but I don't have any. Does anyone have any for sale?
Do I need to go to a boat center?

Thanks

I'd recommend finding someone who sews. Curtains are very basic, you could do it yourself if someone has a sewing machine you can borrow. Then you get to choose the fabric which is always nice

The part that is difficult to find is the little sliders that go into the rails. I think someone on here had a bunch or knew how to get them though. A boat place might actually be a good spot to start for those.

As far as just being able to buy curtains, you're on the right track asking if someone here has some they don't want. Otherwise I think you will save yourself time and money not trying to find something that will fit all the different spots on the van.

We bought our sliders at HomeDepot. Doesn't look like the originals, but works perfect.

I've done a curtain call about 3 times now with no luck. CC Auto had some once but they were brown/white and I needed some in gray. I guess it's time to find someone with a sewing machine and get the sliders from Home Depot. There is a thread somewhere on this forum about the specific slider parts.

I can sew curtains for folks if needed.

Choose your fabric to suit the Personality of your Delica.
The trick is to get a thin enough fabric that it doesnt bunch up into big bundles when tied open, yet thick enough to prevent daylight waking you up too early. Make sure your fabric has NO cotton content as it will just suck up the moisture in the air, and get moldy. Polyester or nylon type fabrics are good. Non factory curtains wont have the cute folded pleats on them as that requires special heat/chemical treatment to set the pleats.

No idea on price yet, as havent made any for the Delica, we were fortunate to get the complete set including the divider curtain behind the front seats. I used to teach sewing so it's easy for me.

Cheers, Christine.

Looking for set of curtains for L300. I know they are rare to find. Will resort to sewing and Levelor Traverse Rod Carriers per previous great posts on this forum if no luck.

I picked up these at Daiso in Aberdeen Centre in RIchmond. $2/pk. They seem to work fine, just pop them in to the rail. They do hold my burlap coffee bag curtains no problem. I used traditional curtain hooks but you could also stitch the fabric right to the slider.
(FYI: I checked Home Depot and other places for runners and never found any)

As for curtains - home made seems the way to go.

Thanks so much. I went to Vancouver Cambie Home Depot a few weeks ago and asked for the Levelor Traverse Rod carriers and showed them the pic from this forum (under "Funky New Chicken Curtain Thread I believe) and they directed me on to a drapery/curtain shops in Vancouver as a good place to procure the levelors as they didn't carry them
