Ian will be working his magic on it fixing the damage I did with the sos pads. First time we met in person and it turns out we've met about 25 years ago. Small world !

I just caught this... was going to suggest acetone but it sounds like you've tried that already. Mineral spirits would be my next suggestion. I asked someone here at work and they suggested laying on peanut butter, letting it sit for half an hour, and then scraping off - wasn't sure if that was a joke or not, they seemed pretty serious! Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out.

I heard what was said about the Forum community... my sense of it being a newcomer is that it is pretty cool, but perhaps it was even better in days of yore. :)

I just got a tip from a guy who was polishing his car that a wet ' Bounce ' sheet works well. I haven't tried it yet but if it works they are cheap and easy to find.

everything what has been mentioned would have probably worked on dirt, sap, soft tar, etc... but these little bits of tar felt like jagged diamonds and were hard as rock embedded into the clear coat.

That stuff is amazing! It took of the stickers that had been on my ski box for 30+ years with ease when lacquer thinner, wax remover and paint thinner couldn't even make a dent.

Now would be a good time to RhinoCoat the lower portions of your ride - then the tar flicked up from the road wouldn't even be noticeable.

Goof Off is comprised of toluene and xylene. Lacquer thinner has that and more, like keytones, acetone, methynol ~ really good for removing paint ~ for that matter so is Goof Off. Goof Off is sold in paint trade stores for removing paint that has gone onto something it shouldn't have. Goof Off is expensive because it is a brand name. Lacquer thinner will equally or better destroy your paint job than Goof Off ~ for far less money.

Ian (Aciled) contacted me and offered his help to restore the paint on our rig.

I've never met him before and it was the classic 'Delica-owner-help-out-another-Delica-owner' which is why this community works so well.

He did an amazing job restoring (more like fixing my sos pad scruffing) the paint. Looks to beautiful to take off the pavement now.

'I like that name, maybe I'll consider changing my member's name to it... although SOME people might think I mean the "F" word..lol

I do like how the flared fenders on the Safari are part of the body and not just snapped-on-plastic bits (like on my Pajero). When I go and spend a bucket-load of money on a paint job, maybe I have something like that fab'd up - then my Paj would really rock!

And I get some flash rims.

And low profile tires.

Tint ALL the windows.

Remove most of the suspension and slammed that mutha down!
