Super Exceeded,
I would consider following along to Dawson, just to visit some friends of minie up there, and see your van, but to me Tuk as a destination is rather boring. I have been to Tuk several times and the best part of the trip IMO is the Dempster hwy - and it is most spectacular in the fall. I know the winter road is not open then, but the Dempster in winter is cold, dark and dull. The bragging rights for driving across the Arctic Circle and seeing the Beaufort Sea/Arctic Ocean is really something as well.
let me know I live on the Alaska Hwy just outside Whitehorse.
not to side track your thread, but having lived and worked in Yukon for the past 10 years - why does no one do the Canol Road? the end of the road there is unreal - unsupported for the full 500km (250 both ways from Ross River) that road has some amazing history and is true wilderness.

Open to all ideas, as mentioned already, I really don't have a plan, just an idea and the bragging rights to say I did the drive. I've never been to Tuk but have seen enough photos to know that once there, take your picture and head south!!

Yeah, but wouldn't it be a drag if you got there only to realise that you left the camera on the kitchen counter?

Super Exceed,
I would like to apologize. I did not meant to highjack your thread by enticing others in joining me, on a different journey, within your own thread. Who am I to even think that I would have such power. Thanks for the moderator to point out the fact that we have to be clear in our intention of making jokes on this forum. It is very humbling to have a finger wagging at you.
Now, that said and now that it is behind us, I would like to make a comment about what BproofOG said. Now now, it might break some people's heart or might see fingers wagging, but I have to disagree with BproofOG on a few points (Don't you all get angry yet, I will agree with another of his point later).
I say, if you want to drive to Tuk, do it! It is more then bragging rights, it is an amazing experience and a challenge. It is also more then driving to the Arctic ocean, taking a photo and leaving. We have met amazing people there that helped us to learn and understand the way of living of hundreds of people. By the way, they love and respect visitors that come in Tuk, especially in winter. The Dempster Highway might be cold, not that dark and definitely not dull. I have lots of photographs and videos that proves my point.
Now here is my point where I agree with BproofOG. I agree about the Canol Rd. It is on our list of places to go, including the Trans-Labrador Hwy. But Tuk, should stay on your list of places do go.
Now I hope no one was offended, or got the wrong impression. If so, please send me a PV with your finger wagging. You might get one back, but it might not wagg... (just kidding, it is a joke ahah, you know like having a sense of humor...)
Fred

Re: Vancouver to Tuk
Fred, you are correct I shouldn’t have painted the Dempster in an unflattering light for SuperExceeded. My intention was to offer some local knowledge on the road and inform him that (in my opinion) fall on Dempster is THE best season. I have seen all the seasons there and for some reason I am always amazed by the fall – the colours, the caribou herds (Porcupine and the Heart River) I feel really small on that road in the fall especially near the Yukon NWT boarder (Fred should know the place I am talking about).
So, thanks to Fred for pointing this out and please contact me if you are interested in doing the Canol. I would love to travel up there together. I fly via helicopter to the end of the North Canol every month & have since summer 2008 (for environmental monitoring work) it is something else up there – lets talk.
To SuperExceeded if you want any local info for your expedition (from the Yukon boarder on) and or some company up to Dawson just drop me a line.

Re: Vancouver to Tuk
LOL to both of you, and thanks for reposting. I grew up in a small community (Canim lake) have been to over 35 Countries and 5 continents. I am very aware how nice people are when you leave the beaten path. The whole reason for building super exceeded is to drive around the world one day. Tuk is but mearly a test run. I travel with my own plans and very rarely do I know where I am going, I just kinda go.

Side track.
The one place in NA I can see super exceeded being right at home would be Moab.
Super Exceeded reminds me of the 80's Buck Rogers/Battlestar Galactica type of moon roamer and what better place than our own NA area that mimics Mars.
