Re: Oil Filter Numbers for an L400
FYI, we carry Sakura oil filter for L400 at $27 each.CREGAN wrote:I am kind of hoping someone can confirm or deny these filter numbers.
Length is listed as 5.90 inches (149.86mm) which seems longer anyway, but the picture on the Donaldson website is of a shorty filter. Here is the application listed for filter P557382:
Refrigeration Unit THERMO KING
SBIII
1 SE2.2
Length 6.92 inches (175.77mm) M26 x 1.5
And for the P551341 there are about 115 applications that seem to center around the 4D56 and 4D68 engines.
Length 5.31 Inches (134.87mm) M26 x 1.5
Anyone got definate numbers and what type of vehicle you use them on? Experience with them? Tell us about it. I almost think that the Donaldson website has the wrong image for the P502008 and the P551343. They almost seem to be switched. I want to order some in but I don't want the short filters for my L400 4M40 (as some vendors have advised against for an L400).
Craig
Its length reaches 7.40 inch.

Re: Oil Filter Numbers for an L400
Hi, cregan,
i do have 2 different filter for 4m40 engine:
for Delica L400 its a little big filter and longer than pajero even they share same engine;
Delica L400 4m40 is bigger, pajero 4M40 is shorter filter.
did many researcxh and even ask mitsubishi japan when i was in japan
they say they have to do this for oil circulation to compensate the heavy weight of the vehicle.
like Delica L400 is bigger and heavy than pajero which has 4m40 engine:
hope this help:
as per psilosin is saying that i used smaller filter for delica L400.
sorry psilosin i dont used any small filter to all my L400. or sell this filter to my customer who owns L400, i always ask them where they are using this for to avoid confusion:
so pls try to retify and correct this topic as i dont used small filter for L400.
small filter i used is for pajero. as i dont used this for L400 other people do used small one.
i dont know where you got this clue. i sell many Delica L400 filter and sold them bigger filter
rather than the small pajero filter.
as i do study and ask the manufacturer what the different to avoid damage and breakdown of the engine
which is vital to any customer who buy filter for me.
The Filter i sell is good quality and back by manufacturer to ensure it meet the standard or higher spec similar to the original mitsubishi filter. its been tested here in canada no failure so far.
it works very good.
HOPE THIS HELP:
Cheers;
Mardy

Re: Oil Filter Numbers for an L400
Thanks Mardy. I had read that in other threads too about the larger capacity for greater weight compensation. Just to clarify and prevent this from turning into a flame-war , I want to keep the good information flowing, Psilosin was just making a point that the Sure Filters are bigger style filters, they are slightly shorter than OEM filters. That is all. They still work great and I have had no issues with the Sure Filters. I think I may stick with them because they do seem to do the job nicely. I was just trying to find acceptable larger filters available every where other than the greater Vancouver area.
Keep up the good info and part numbers everybody so this can be used for an easier reference for L400 owners than having to search through 1000 threads to find the same info.

Luberfiner # lfp8752, it is a "larger body" filter, I've used since Dec 09'(60,000kms),
I get em for $28
Edited part# to be 8752-what a type O!

Do you actually work for Canfor, or is this a secret code used by spies and ninjas? If I tell them I work for canfor and they say "really, where and what do you do? or "what is your account number?" do I throw a smoke bomb and vanish into thin air? Man, I need to stop watching so much TV.Pajero wrote:I get my oil filters from Acklands Grainger and just tell them I work for canfor and I get Baldwin filters for 15.08 each and its the large filter.

UPdate oil Filter:
Cregan,
measure my filter For L400 4M40 Oil filter same length with the original mitsubishi one.
i dont know why other poeple say my oil filter for L400 is small one.
i do have 2 type for oil filter for 4m40 same with turbo one for pajero and delica L400.
sakura and my oil filter is the same lenght.no difference.
as you can see on your previuos oil filter that i put when i change the oil for your L400
same filter i used. i dont used small filter for all my Delica L400 no mistake on this for sure 100%.
hope this clarify the lenght , capacity and right oil filter for this delica L400,
even they are the same 4m40 engine.
dont know why they design like this by manufacturer.
Cheers;
Mardy

Re: Oil Filter Numbers for an L400
I read it in thread somewhere on delica.ca Mardy from member that liked the filter but said it was smaller. That is why i say that. If not true then ok thanks for explain that in 3 posts..
One question Mardy do you always use the Sure filters when you do your oil change before selling? Or do you sometimes use the actual ME088532 mitsubishi filter as treat for new customer?

Re: Oil Filter Numbers for an L400
No problems. Lets call it sorted. I never said you used the shorter filter Mardy, I only said that according to the specs online that the sure filter is only slightly (and I mean slightly as in tiny bit) shorter. Internet info and specs have been known to be out a tiny bit sometimes, so maybe that is the case here. It is in no way a "short" filter. As I said before, I like the SureFilters and will probably keep on using them. No issues here- just want a common thread for all the filters we can use on an L400. That is all.

Re: Oil Filter Numbers for an L400
psilosin,
i do understand your ipinion, as per L300 filter there is some filter, small filter came from korea.
dont know why in korea use small filter for same or similar 4d56 engine, as they have a korean made 4d56 engine.
but mostly 4d56 engine in japan which we carry uses big size oil filter, either VIC ,SAKURA or Sure Filter.
its just thru my opinion why change the right fit filter to small one. as most Delica L300 engine 4d56 came from japan.
i have to go with japan manufacture spec not korean spec.
as most of this 4d56 engine is japan spec.
the point is why not used the proper one that was that is available in the market.
its up to any owner choice which one they want.
as per 4m40 engine turbo or non turbo. they have 2 type. oil filter.
small filter uses by pajero, big one is for L400 even its the same engine.
as per the Sure filter i am using now, which i always carry now
i am there distributor here in west coast canada.
started using this filter since last year.Pretty happy to use it and no failure so far.
also used diff filter before original Mitsubishi filter, sakura , vic filter to all my L400.
just my choice for sure filter as they back me up on this filter.other filter dont back me up on this.
they have USA patent that they use all over united states from west coast and east coast,
uses by taxi, commercial transport, dealers,and some government agency,been proven they have the north american quality standard.
for the filter they made. not just a filter.
cregan,
maybe the measurement on the catalog you see for 4m40 is small is for pajero with 4m40 engine.
that could be small. but for the right 4m40 engine for L400 its the same,
have available now.
Cheers;
Mardy

4D56 engine has different specs depending on manufacturer ( Mitsubishi or Hyundai )?
Or filter size should be different depending on vehicle total weight ( You mentioned earlier )?
If you pull 2T trailer by your L400, current L400 7.40inch oil filter should be replaced into double size ( over 14inch )?

OK- no pissing matches please. Thank you Steven for showing us what you have. No more back and forthing please as I can already see where this is headed, and I don't want to go there.
Input = YES
Arguing over who is right or better = NO
Lets work together here to show what we can use for an oil filter on an L400.
