Please note, that I was only expressing my reasons for not coping and republishing my manual (which is for the l400), I am not condemning anyone else. If I was comfortable reprinting it, I would have put it in the downloads section long ago. While the one that is there is somewhat helpful, it was obviously made up by a few guys, who did not to bad of a job, but it is rather limited, and not 100% accurate. The reprint I have is about an inch thick, and about 280 pages. It was well worth the $40 I spent on it, but I got mine through a group buy on one of the clubs in the UK, before the l400's were allowed here. I wanted to know what I was buying.

I think that was clear, but although it was said that the law kicks in when the copying is with intent of distributing, while that might be legally accurate, it's not necessarily socially accurate. Before the 'net, the economic model was one of control the dissemination of knowledge and information so it can be kept scarce and so valuable. This model applied to many things, from education to entertainment. This model is collapsing as information is become readily available and freely shared through the internet. Some industries are fighting back (RIAA), but some are evolving a better approach. Sooner or later we will have to find a different model of monetizing content other than simply controlling the sharing of it. I'm a content producer so this issue affects me more than most, but I'm all for the free distribution of information.

Well I suppose I should chime in here seing as I started this whole mess...

First off, what a brilliant conversation this has turned out to be...On both sides.

I recieved my L300 manual just yesterday from www.amazon.co.uk And I have to say it's most excellent. For just under $40.00Cdn, trust me it's well worth the $$. It came from a business that is actively producing automotive material such as this. And it also came with a few window stickers from the UK Delica site.

There's a ton of info in the manual and I've already gained a ton of knowledge from skimming through it quickly last night. It would take me a long time to reproduce it for everyone here. And I'd need to get a friend involved, as I'm not that tech savvy, to help me put it on here.

So it's going to be a pass this time round. I'd love to help out others on this site for all they have given me as far as the advice and everything else. And when I was into the whole VW Bus thing, it was a given that I would provide free music at all the campouts for all the help I recieved from folks that were into that scene. But I fell I shouldn't reproduce this thing now. Especially when it's available from a company that has invested time and $$ to make it available to the public.

I can always provide ice cold beer, live music and ?? But as far as the manual goes, make the $40.00 investment. I can say with confidence, you'll be glad you did!!

And sorry in advance if I've pissed anybody off here...

Cheers, Phil

Hi Phil, what years does your manual cover?

I have a 1991 L300 van, so my Russek Owners Manual is lovely for that, but it only covers 1989 to 1992. My new L300 is 1997 and the are some changes. Basically the changes started phasing in 1993 with water cooled turbo, no dashboard pull choke, higher voltage glow plugs etc. So am trying to find idle specs for my new one, 1997 L300 high roof, Diesel 4D54 engine, turbo, automatic transmission.

Send me a PM. And if you need any specs looked up in my manual just ask.

Cheers, Christine.

Hey Christine,

I'm not at home right now but when I get there, I'll look it up and let you know. It's more of a glove box manual but has the capacities ect. It's really good. And as others have suggested, the pictures are funny.

Stay tuned, Cheers
