That makes me feel a little better. I paid just over $300 for my rebuild. But now I don't have warning lights warning me of imminent doom. I don't know exactly what was done. But considering that my coolant leak was just above the alternator and I've seen coolant dripping from the inside of the alternator, you know that couldn't be good. I suspect it was rewired.

What did they do for $400 bucks, I hope the rewound it in gold. Just doing bearings and the regulator cost me $125 with $75 being parts.

Big thanks for these detailed instructions!
I have been a bit absent on the forum for a while, but it sure is nice that I can come search around and find the information I need.
Pulled my alternator this morning with the help of these pointers, and dropped it off to get rebuilt
