As with all vehicles there are common faults with L400's.

Stuff like drop links wear on them quite quickly as do ball joints, track rod ends and front and rear ARB bushes.

They are also quite prone to the rear exhaust pipe rotting.


Always listen closely to the engine under load i.e on a long climb if you can, to see if you can hear the Deli chuff if its there it means the timing chain is worn.

They have a bit of an issue with fuel pump seals as well.


But they do have a lot more room inside than the 300 and they are easier to move around inside on account of the fact that there is no hump between the front and rear and then of course you can fold the rear most seats up against the sides of the vehicle so that you have a good load space.
