That is one nice snorkel. But you can't just tease us without giving us more details...

Only issue with a L300 with (or without) snorkel is that simply putting a snorkel might help in the short run but much more needs to be done to properly make it work. One issue is the alternator which is located very low and grabs tons of mud and water while deep in s**t. And there's more stuff to seal around the engine...

It is my understanding that - with the standard factory height of the air intake above ground - you have to get into pretty deep water before you get moisture into your airfilter... Not sure if I would ever go that deep - with- or without snorkel...

But this "almost invisible" snorkel sure looks very decent!

yea. i really like the idea of running piping inside the pillar and adding a vent.
if it was me, i'd probably add a scoop for ram air!

I can get these snorkels, i had held back from buying one for a long time because they cost about 280 Canadian dollars to buy which i thought was a little expensive for mine but just the style and look of it makes up for the price.
They are fiberglass and have 2 holes for the air.

Is the vans natural slipstream suitable for that style of vent (louvres) I mean when travelling at speed the van creates a vacuum of sorts along the sides and the rear! is the vent high enough to be outside of that vacuum? I am definately no scientist or anything like that but I do have a snorkle on my L400. On one trip I managed to loose the ram head leaving me with a horizontal circular opening facing skyward. That in itself created a vacuum somewhat similar to blowing across the top of a bottle.... seriously negative air pressure making the engine work harder for its air. My fuel economy dropped badly and the engine laboured hard at speed and really struggled. Slow speeds she was just fine.

A forward facing ram would more than likely be beneficial! but then you would have to work out some sort of water trap for wet weather driving!!!!

Like I said I aint no scientist , its just me throwing out some food for thought

Okay I know its an old thread, but did anybody go ahead with this mod, and Delicars pictures are no longer available has anybody got a copy of them. Also I cannot help thinking that if the pillar is used without an internal pipe won't the inducted rain water start rotting the metalwork.

Unless you want to drive around with earplugs I would not use the pillar as the snorkel itself. It will get pretty loud next to your head. A pipe inside might work well, but then I would still insulate it as good as possible.
