So Jesse,
Did you end up using your charm to get a club price with Polar? I'll be picking one up soon to replace the dual system in my Pajero.

Jesse, did you accomplish this mission or still 'not yet'?

I bought my last pair through the US. Was about $60 cheaper per battery than here in Canada.

Thanks Jesse. I would be surprised if it was the other way around.

At least I know that Polar is not an option.

From a previous post by jfarsang:
"They (Odyssey) are one of the best gel batteries on the market today. Take a peek at them.
If you can, go down to the states and go to Sears.
They have the DieHard Platinum batteries (re-badged Odyssey's) for 1/2 the cost.
No venting. Excellent discharge/capacity properties."
Anyone bought one of these recently in the States? My son left the back hatch ajar overnight and one interior light completely drained my Japanese Panasonic battery of unknown age, so time for an upgrade

.
Wondering if they are still one and the same battery.

They are
I'm not sure if sears platinum comes in a small enough size though.

If they are the same battery, are they not the same form factor/size? Or does an Odyssey not fit in an L400?
EDIT: I checked my cuirrent battery; it is a Panasonic 95D31R
Measures 12" long, 6.8" wide, 7.8" high
According to the Sears website, for the DieHard Platinum 34:
7.8"H x 6.8"W x 10.9"L
So I'm thinking it should fit OK.

Well, here we go:
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1260 ... 000P?mv=rr, it looks the same as Odyssey 34-PC1500 but I have some doubts about a
'half-price' deal.

I was looking at the P1 - same price, just without the wingnut terminals:

Same specs by the looks of it.

It is still over $200. No magic.

Did the price check at Battery World in Vancouver - $350!

I am a patriot but not that fanatic, going south for the battery shopping.

I apologize if this has been discussed before (did a quick search and didn't see anything), but I have duel batteries that need replacing. Talked to the dude at West Rock battery here in Winnipeg (they do all the police cars in Winnipeg I was told) and he said two small batteries will give me more CCA than one large one. Not to mention, it is cheaper to get two small ones than a single high end odyssey. This may not be apples to apples as they are not gel quality but for starting in our cold, he thought it a waste of money to go to gel.

Definitly stick with 2 batteries for Manitoba. If you want to get the most life out of your batteries, go with the AGM's or at least a pair of heavy duty conventional batteries. The vibrations of the diesel engine tends to vibrate the lead plates loose in conventional automotive batteries. I went with 2 of the largest AGM's that Exide makes. $199.99 each here, and worth every penny.

The Odyssey's are not GEL batteries like the Optima's. They are AGM (glass mat) and are amazing. You can run them down to bone dry empty and charge them back up to full without damaging them (unlike conventional batteries).
