SWB roof racks

Gents, it could be worth having a browse through the Aussie forums, as we have many more shorty Paj's down there and I'm sure there's a few tried and tested options they've used.

I went to the wrecker and found a truck with roof rails that were approx the correct length and width and came up with this

This was my last choice, but now that I see it all together, it seems like the best way to go. Better quality than the yakima crap, bigger feet etc.

Do you remember what vehicle it came from? What did you need to remove it? Saws-All? lol

I was going to say as well, when we attached the roof rack to my 4runner, which is of a similar sort to Raule's above, I went over to a buddies place and we used something similar to a pop-riveter that is actually meant for this purpose. He bought it home from his work (Toyota Mechanic). Can't remember the name of it, but we drilled the holes first, then this thing had a really nice method of sealing it right off and spreading the force a little, plus with the aid of a touch of silicone on the inside.

Could be worth pinging a mechanic mate if you have one, or asking around at an auto-shop. Much better than self tappers ;)

If you need more cargo capacity why do not upgrade to LWB?

you'lll find that when searching at the wrecker's, most of the roof racks seem to be manufactured by the same factory. they all seem to be almost identical (mot of them not all) I got this one off a Nissan Frontier... however i'm pretty sure that the newer style (around 98 or 2000 year) blazers and other smaller SUV's have them

I took the head liner out and used things called "nutserts" to mount them (they are a rubber "Crush nut" thing) availablt at lordco for cheap and then used marine grade epoxy on each bolt to ensure strength and seal

Ah ha! That's what we used. Although we didn't take the roof liner out, just inserted from the top.

I just realized that I took home the same rack from the wreckers. You're right, there are lots. I figured it was also a good thing in case you need parts.
