Good things come to those who wait. I have witnessed these first hand and must say Fishslapper has done a fine job! Much attention to detail.

Re: Skid plate, pictures...
Yeah ......union problems. I am trying to get a quote from a place now. The guy i was counting on, THe one who had my metal for 2 months, Just drove by my place last week and returned my sheet metal to me. He said they can't do it out in chiliwack where i was trying to get it done for a good price. Since then i have been checking places around me and not having a very good time finding a shop. THe last place i checked wanted $2900 just to cut and form these. THat is on top of the large sum i have already paid for the metal (3 ,5 foot by ten foot sheets !!! )
HElp !!!!!! Please !!!! I want to crawl into a little hole !!! (well i am not so small so it would have to be a medium size hole!!)
I will keep you posted. I just want these to be done !! IF i find a good shop i will have a bunch more made...

Re: Skid plate, pictures...
Hi there
This is Kevin out of Vancouver BC. I own a welding - fabricating shop and deal mostly with boat stuff, lots of stainless and aluminum railings and components. Lately I've been interested in trucks, offroading etc and got into building a few rock sliders and such. Then my friend Angel tell me he wants a skid plate made for his Delica and to check out this forum so here I am. I will be making one for him and I guess I should get the word out. The more I make the cheaper they'll get.
Little correction for David : stainless isn't stronger than steel. It's actually quite more maleable than regular mild steels or carbon steels. But like you said, no corrosion is a great advantage especially for a part that will be abused like a skid plate. I would recommend 3/16'' thick though 1/8'' should do it. I guess the $ factor will have to be considered. I will crunch some numbers to try to give a fairly accurate quote. In the meantime anyone interested can raise their finger buy sending me a mail or calling me directly. Like I said the more the cheaper.
Regards
Kevin Nealey

Re: Skid plate, pictures...
Kevin,
Not sure if you've been through the entire post, 11 pg is getting crazy but we already have the CAD design done and had one cut with proper angles. Instead of re-inventing the wheels it might be better if we could get in touch and see if you could finish the product. As fishslapper said, we have the metal, the template and bends all figured out. All we need is someone to cut and bend for us... Unless you think the design doesn't work? Again, we are not trying to make a profit on those so can't either afford to pay too much for the work, just reasonnable fees I guess...

Hi David
Where about do you live ? If you do have the one plate cut I could fit it on my friend's Delica (or yours if you live around Vancouver), put the brackets where they are supposed to be etc and get a finished product we'll be able to copy.
Give me a shout at 604 561 2949
