as far as trolling goes he got you guys pretty good. This is a very innocent forum and everyone really does mean well.... which is what makes it too easy to be a whiny little pain in the ass troll.

I considered closing this thread on page 1, with my lingering moderator powers (that at least I think I still have) because it was fairly obvious from the first post that it was confrontational, and meant to get a rise out of people, the first sign of a troll. However since it was already a few responses deep, and didn't immediately erupt in a flame war it was left open, see if some good could come of it...

the OP posted again and proved himself an idiot, not worth anyones apologies, or attempts at "re" welcoming this person who didn't want to be welcomed in the first place, just wanted to be a pain in the ass.

If he is even real as far as owning a delica, and actually being upset, then he has a fairly warped view of what random strangers on the internet owe him. This is assuming he is not just straight up trolling. Either way, he's certainly not worth my time, and i'd take a good hard look at whether this thread is worth your time too...

Ok...so I'm not so "web savvy" but the best thing about the web is always being able to find an answer....here is what I found out about a "troll" as I didn't quite know what this meant before....

Anyway, I'm sure someone else must have noticed but the two rust posts are not even relevant to each other. The one talkes about the frame and underneath (which the 1 response was great about taking it to Krown to have it oil guarded) and the other about surface spotting on the exterior...two totally DIFFERENT subjects! Both good posts, BOTH good responses.

Not really sure what the problem is at all.

If I were to post and get ONE answer that was "correct" or helped greatly I would be extremely happy. On the other hand, if I were to get TEN posts with no relevent information I would be dissapointed.

So what I'm trying to say is, it doesn't matter how MANY replies you receive if you get the answer that you're looking for.

Thanks for your educated and well written response. Just a quick word of advice. If you are going to comment on a person's intelligence then I would suggest that you first learn some basic grammar and spelling. "Helpful" only has one "L" and "in return" is two words not one.

I've been reading this and thought I would stay out but now I feel I must say something to lighten the mood and hopefully keep this thread from being deleted entirely as it demonstrates the unity we have as a group.

The responses in this thread have conjured up the image of a scene from Blazing Saddles when they circled the wagons... there were 2 groups doing the circling... the main group was what anyone would consider a traditional wagon circle - a bunch of wagons in a circle... the 2nd 'group' was one wagon circling by itself because it had alienated itself from the rest for reasons only appropriate to the context of the movie and very obviously not achieving its goal.

Now... to speak MY mind...

I agree that the response our new friend got to his post was efficient and to the point and the lack of other responses was likely due to the fact that those who read the post had nothing to add at that time. I was glad to see someone include the link to his original post so we could understand where he was coming from in his tirade. Someone else getting a popular response to a similar question is in no way a reflection of the popularity of that individual member - with the exception of those who have attended a Delica event, the majority of us have never met each other and thus can't formulate who should be more popular. It is not uncommon for like questions to be posted close together and usually the most recent one is the one that attains the 'popular' level as it's the closest to the top of the page.

The real purpose of this whole forum thing is to provide a positive contribution to the common interest of a group of individuals - the positive contribution CAN be a negatively swayed post provided it results in an improvement for the better or as an informative cautionary tale that enables others to make an informed decision. The negative comments by THIS individual are in no way helpful and somewhat personal in nature and should serve as a lesson for those who wish to embark on similar posts with such lack of insight and foresight.

The guys and gals I have run across in person or on this forum have been wonderful people from ALL walks of life and they all have wonderful and very different stories to share about their interests, lives and occupations. All that is tied together by our common interest in a crazy looking little van that seems to have countless chameleon-like abilities as a people carrier, off-road machine, research vehicle and on and on but most importantly it draws people closer together and sparks intellectual conversations that are as different as the people who own one of them.

I challenge you to redeem yourself and turn this around to reflect a more positive (and constructive) side of you as an individual instead of attacking individuals who are only responding to the lack of intellectual input you are offering and perhaps the wagon circle will part and we can continue our journey to the next campfire filled with baked bean farts and a monster of a man named Mongole.
