A long overdue thank you to Tardisdeli

Post by mountainmack »

Hi All
We just wanted to give a big public thank you to Christine and Jay who helped us out and provided accommodations during a road trip this past fall. We are from Whitehorse but at the time were on a 3-month road trip with our new (to us) Deli and our new baby. We went through Vancouver for a Delitune at CVI (which really helped starting in cooler temps). Coincidentally our headlights had blown at about the same time and CVI connected us with Jay who after providing a great deal of useful information over the phone, invited us to come to their place so that he could take a look. Within 15 minutes of arriving he had it fixed so fast that I could barely tell what had happened. Meanwhile Christine was giving Isabel and our young son a tour of their place and encouraging us to stay for at least the night.

Their incredible generosity was impossible to resist so we ended up staying for about 4 nights. This really helped out as it was quite rainy at the time and we were considering options for the rest of our trip. During this time Christine was interested in arranging a mini-meet but we were non-committal on how long we would be staying as we were taking things one day at a time. In retrospect I regret not committing so that she could have arranged a mini-meet for us to meet some of you fine folks.

In any case we then carried on south along the beautiful Washington and Oregon coasts before heading inland to Bend Oregon. After that we worked our way back to Bellingham where we took the Alaska ferry to Skagway, Alaska in late November. (Skagway is only a two hour drive from Whitehorse).

We had a great trip and are still grateful to Christine and Jay for their assistance and generosity!

Sean, Isabel & Mavik

That's a lovely story. Do let us all know when you are making it down again to the Lower Mainland and perhaps we could do another mini meet then!

Christine and Jay are in their own category when it comes to hospitality as anyone who comes in contact with them finds out quickly.

Truly giving and wonderful people. :M

They are indeed in a category by themselves and we will certainly plan better if we head down to the coast again. It would be fun to meet a few of you DeliFolks at a mini meet. :-D
