Victoria to Halifax and back in 3 1/2 weeks

Post by Artacoma »

One way 7000 km , $740 diesel
6 days of 3000rpm 120kph 900km per day
temp guage never past 10 oclock
top speed 135kph with a tailwind in Manitoba
I budgeted 1G each way so I'm happy.
Not a cough or a sputter but lots of strange looks when your passenger is reading a map with there feet up on the dash.Wish I had an extra cylinder or two through the mountains but the unobstructed viewing makes it worth the effort of pushing a tin brick up the hills.
Saw wolf , moose, mink, big horn sheep, mice and lots of hawks, most popular roadkill is porkupine by far ,coon second and skunk third.
Worst drivers in Lincoln Navigators followed by Hummers.
Comfy driving , slept in the back 1/2 the time.
AC worked great, froze mini icepacks in the coolbox for the cooler in the back.
I saw one Deli near Revelstoke thats all.
A bit of road noise from weak doors, kept the tunes cranked.
In Western Ont./ Manitoba the insects are the size of small children. Pity the guys on motorbikes.

I am very jealous.... I love driving across the country, and have driven to Halifax in my previous vehicle, The Delica has only done the Vancouver-Calgary run though.
Problem is, Canada is very big... and it's rather difficult to get 3weeks off to do the drive...
