Hi,
After ICBC's witch hunt report last week, I believe that it is time for JDM owners to take direct action against ICBC. I suggest that we let them know that beyond our basic insurance which we are legislated to hold with them, that if they don't stop this witch hunt, that we will get our collision, comprehensive etc. through private insurers. With a conservative estimate of a loss of $500/vehicle, with 200 JDM vehicles per month entering BC, this represents a loss of $1.2 million a year if all of the new car owners were to do it. There would be an additional $1.2-2 million loss/year to them (based on the estimates I have heard for existing JDM owners in BC) if existing owners were to do this. You can let ICBC know you are doing this by emailing Doug.Henderson@icbc.com.
Sincerely,
Mark Milotay

Interesting idea, I would have to find out what the difference in the premiums would be, if not too much I'd be willing to go with a private insurer for my optional insurance. How about a poll?

My broker did a search for me a few months ago and we couldn't find a private co. up to the task.
