Sat in a l-400 for the first time

Post by deli1733 »

Well I was at CC auto's yesterday and there was a very handsome l-400 there. I was dropping off a vehicle, nobody was around... Don't tell them but I hopped in the driver's seat and I was impressed. Always been somewhat a l-400 hater but they're actually pretty sweet. Especially like how you can get into the back seat to smack your kids without having to get out of the van.

Hey,
There is V-6 all decked out up there that is admitedly pretty badass.
My spousal loves her L400 and it is a real handy layout for the
Kids for sure.
I still love my L300 of above all of course, but the Space Gear seems to have
Planted itself nicely into the pack.
Sounds like you might be taking a test drive soon eh?

Right On! 8-)

I wish I could buy one. But I need to sell either my pajero or delica and buy a house, sick of paying rent. Then in a few years maybe an l-400. Slick vehicles tho

Warning: off topic! But I couldn't resist...

Keep renting for one or 2 more years then send me half of what you save! Use some of YOUR half for the 400.
I already have mine :-D

You would if you spend a lot of time on slick and snowy mountain highways.

Three words: All Wheel Drive

This is THE reason to pick an L400 over the 300. All the rest is just cosmetics.

I love the l-300 in the snow, it gets sideways so easy! If you want easily maintain a straight line then put it in 4 wheel drive, even better the AWD and its not like your going 80 or more in the snow anyway.

Conditions vary greatly where I travel.

Calgary to Edmonton in mid-winter can be all over the place going from cold dry payment to all kinds of wintery hell in seconds as you travel.

Calgary to Nelson has got it all. High winds and blowing snow over the Porcupine Hills, raining like cats and dogs in Creston and then severe winter conditions minutes later going up Kootenay pass.

I have done these roads in many different vehicles. Calgary to Edmonton in a rental with all seasons during the first of those nasty storms in early winter 2009 took years off my life. Almost 7 hours of pure white knuckle driving to do it safely.

I did it again during the second bad storm, this time in the L400. I was able to safely (key word) and confidently do it in almost half the time. You go from dry pavement to all out shit in seconds. A full time four wheel drive may not have the advantage here.

My 2 cents,

Darren

Turtle has All Wheel Drive?
Turtle doesn't need All Wheel Drive.

He has a custom All Wheel Chuck Norris Drive. There's a mini Chuck Norris running inside each tire at varied speeds depending on which wheel spins.
