No dashboard lights

The other day I put a stereo in my delica.I found after that I had no dashboard lights and the van would not shut off.I have now taken the stereo out but there is still no dashboard lights and my battery appears to be draining!!??I noticed that when they wired in the stereo that they hooked up a black wire to the dashboard illuminate wire.???? Any suggestions

my electrical grmlins in my L300 were solved by removing a faulty trailer wiring harness, and a cheapo drl control module.
